SECTION A:

SET-1

IMS international school conducted an exam of 5 subjects- Algebra, Geometry, English,


Economics and Statistics. The table below gives the partial information about the marks
scored by 5 students- Gauri, Shilpa, Sheetal, Swati and Varsha in each subject. The marks
scored by the students in each of the subjects were only from among 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17,
18 and 19. The marks scored by any student in any two subjects were not the same. Similarly,
the marks scored by any two students in the same subject were not the same. The cells
highlighted in yellow colour denote the top 3 scores in each subject and the top 3 scores for
each student.

Further,
I. Shilpa scored 7 more marks in Statistics than the marks scored by Swati in Geometry.
II. The sum of the marks scored by the five students in Algebra was more than the sum of
marks scored by Varsha in all the subjects by 6 and less than the sum of marks scored by
Sheetal in all the subjects by 2.
III. The sum of the marks scored by the five students in English was equal to the sum of the
marks scored by the five students in Statistics.
IV. The sum of marks scored by all the students in Economics was lower than that in any
other subject.

An ATM needs exactly two guards on each day of a week from Monday to Saturday. Puneet,
Vikrant, Vikram, Jasneet and Saurabh are the people responsible for guarding the ATM.
None of them works for three consecutive days during the week. Puneet does not work on
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Jasneet and Vikrant Never work on the same day. Vikrant
works on alternate days and he works with Puneet on Friday. Saurabh works for the
maximum number of days during the week among the five guards. Both Jasneet and Vikrant
work for an odd number of days during the week. Two particular guards work for the same
number of days during the week; each of the rest three works for a distinct number of days.

Set-1
Chef Sudhir is preparing orders of toast for three customers A, B and C. Assume that all the
three customers ordered at exactly the same time, and the time to place bread in and remove
toast from the toaster is negligible.
Sudhir has two toasters that can each toast 2 pieces of bread at the same time, and 1 knife to
apply both butter and jam.
(i) It takes 1 minute to lightly toast 2 pieces of bread.
(ii) It takes 1 minute 30 seconds to moderately toast 2 pieces of bread.
(iii) It takes 2 minutes to darkly toast 2 pieces of bread.
(iv) It takes 10 seconds to apply butter to a piece of toast.
(v) It takes 15 seconds to apply jam to a piece of toast.
Following are the orders:
Customer A wants 4 pieces of toast, moderately toasted, with butter on each piece.
Customer B wants 2 pieces of toast, lightly toasted, with butter and jam on each piece.

Customer C wants 3 pieces of toast, darkly toasted, with butter on 1 piece, nothing on the
others.
Waiting time for any customer is the total time taken by Sudhir to serve that particular
customer. For example, if A had to wait for 2 minutes, and after serving A, B is served in
another 1 minute, then total waiting time for B will be 3 minutes.
Overall objective of Sudhir is to minimize the total combined waiting time.
Total combined waiting time = Individual waiting time of A + individual waiting time of B + Individual
waiting time of C.

Six students-Praveen, Qureshi, Rohit, Sanjeev, Tarun and Usman-participated in a panel


interview of 5members Akbar, Boman, Chander, Deepak and Ekta -each member could give
maximum 10 marks to a student and thus maximum marks that a student could get was 50.
Score obtained by the students were 41, 40, 38, 43,36 and 37 in any order. No member gave
less than 6 marks to any student. Neither a member can give 10marks to more than one
student nor a student can get 10 marks from more than one member. The partial information
regarding the scores are as below:-

Set-1
Seventeen books are stacked one above another horizontally and form three stacks (I), (II)
and (III) from west to east respectively. All the books in a stack have the same thickness. The

total vertical length of stacks (I), (II) and (III) are 60 cm, 30 cm and 40 cm respectively. The
minimum number of books in a stack is 4. The thickness of a book is a whole number only
(in cm).
NOTE: (i) If the number of books or the length of the books in between two books A and B
are given, then A and B are in the same stack.
(ii) If A, B, J and K are four books from top to bottom respectively in a stack and the
thickness of each book is 2 cm, then the length of the books between A and K will be 4 cm
(sum of the thicknesses of books B and J).
(iii) The letters with which the names of the books start are considered in the following
arrangement. If a book 'B' is in any of the stacks, the full name of the book can be any word
or phrase that starts with the letter 'b'.
Two books are in between N and E such that N is above E. R is the topmost book of the stack
in which Q is the lowermost book. D is in a stack which is to the west of the stack which has
Q. T is the lowermost book of stack (I). M is above U. The length of the books in between R
and V is 16 cm. Three books are in between P and O. O is kept immediately below G. Three
books are above W. The thickness of W is 5 cm more than that of P. H is kept immediately
above L and they are in stack (III). The thickness of Z is equal to the sum of the thicknesses
of M and O. One book is below C and four books are above C. V and Q are adjacent to each
other. C and W are not adjacent to each other. D is not the topmost book in its stack.

Six batsmen, A, B, C, D, E, and F played a one-day cricket game. Number of balls faced by
each batsman are multiple of 3 and each batsman faced a distinct number of balls. On every
ball faced, a batsman can score either 0 or 2 or 4 or 6 runs. For each batsman, number of dot
balls (scored '0' runs) are more than number of 2's, number of 2's is more than number of 4's
and number of 4's is more than number of 6's. Following additional information is also given
below:

I. Number of 2's scored by A is thrice the number of 6's scored by him.


II. A and C faced maximum and minimum number of balls and scored maximum and
minimum runs respectively.

III. Number of balls faced by C and E for scoring each category (0's, 2's, 4's, and 6's) of runs
are prime numbers.
IV. Number of 4's scored by exactly three batsmen are same.

VI. Number of 6's scored by D is more than number of 6's scored by E, which in turn is more

were of 8 marks each. Any question answered wrongly attracts a penalty of one-fourth of the
marks allotted to the question. After the release of the results of the quiz, the following
observations were made regarding the number of questions attempted and marks obtained by
the five friends in the quiz:
(i) The friend who attempted an equal number of 4 marker and 8 marker questions scored 28
marks.
(ii) The number of 4 marker questions attempted correctly by one of the friends was equal to
the average of number of 4 marker questions attempted correctly by the other two friends,
neither of whom attempted an even number of 4 marker questions correctly.
(iii) Arman, who attempted exactly one 4 marker question correctly, scored 32 marks.

(iv) The number of 8 marker questions attempted correctly by Anjana, who did not attempt
any question wrongly and scored marks which was twice the square of a natural number, was
half the number of 4 marker questions attempted correctly by her.
(v) Anjali attempted the maximum number of questions.
(vi) The number of 4 marker questions attempted correctly by Amrit was one less than that by
Arpit.
(vii) For no two friends, the number of 4 marker questions attempted correctly by them was
the same.
(viii) The number of 8 marker questions attempted correctly by Anjali, Arpit and Arman, in
the given order, forms a Geometric Progression.
(ix) The score of Arpit was the square of a natural number.

However there are many issues among the players in this team and this has to be taken into
consideration while deciding which player plays in which position. Positions which are next
to a certain position - horizontally, vertically or diagonally - are known as neighboring
positions. For instance, for position 1; positions 2, 3, 4 and 5 are neighboring positions. Also
for the goal-keeper (represented by GK), positions 8 and 9 are neighboring positions.

A. Positions 1 and 2 are called forwards, positions 3, 4, 5 and 6 are called midfielders while positions
7, 8, 9 and 10 are called defenders.

of spinners.

can bowl fast.
e. Bumrah and Shami cannot partner with each other. And Rohit only plays when Dhawan

I. N sits four places away from the person who works with CBI. The person who works with
