My Target
At the end of this activity, I will gain competence in identifying and describing the influencing
factors in the home environment that impact students’ learning.
My Map
To reach your target, do the following tasks:
Read the following carefully before you begin to observe/interview. Then write your
observation report on the provided space.
The Learner
1. Make a general observation of the learner. Describe him in each of the domains of
development.
Physical-body built and height (thin, chubby, underweight, overweight), level of
physical activity (fast, slow, lethargic, active, etc.)
Social-interaction with teachers and classmates (loner, shy, sociable, friendly, gets
into fights, liked by others, etc.)
Emotional moods (temperament, cries easily, loses temper, happy, enthusiasm,
excited, indifferent, etc.)
Cognitive (appears to understand lessons, copes with the lessons, excels, lags behind,
shows reasoning skills, turns in assignments and requirements, etc.)
2. Teacher communicate parents / stakeholders through Homeroom Meeting, SPTA meeting and
through social media. To discuss matters inline with the school priorities and needs of the children.
Suggested Parent Interview Guide
Your teacher may ask you to use a more detailed interview guide. Be free to translate the
questions, if necessary.

Mother’s Health during pregnancy with the learner:
Does your child go to you when she/he feels down or has a problem? What do you do to meet hi/her
emotional needs?
How do you monitor his/her performance in school? How do you motivate him/her?
Do you have rules at home to help him develop good study habits?
What are these rules? How are they implemented?

Physical Development
In paragraph form, describe the physical development of the learner. Combine the teacher’s,
parents’ responses, and your own observations.
•Aljean is a healthy young girl with a slim body. She is kind and well-mannered, showing that her parents
have raised her well. She enjoys playing puzzle games and video games, and she likes eating vegetables
and local snacks called "chichirya," which help keep her healthy. On other hand the teacher mention that
many students today can be unruly, but it seems that Aljean is stands out for her good values.
Social Development
In paragraph form, describe the social development of the learner. Combine the teacher’s,
parents’ responses, and your own observations.
• Aljean is friendly and outgoing, making friends easily with her classmates and cousins. Her parents allow
her to play outside but supervise her to ensure safety. They have rules, like not staying out too late and
being respectful, which support her social skills. The teacher observes that Aljean interacts well with
peers, although some students may be unruly, making it important for her to follow family guidelines.
Emotional-Moral Development
In paragraph form, describe the emotional-moral development of the learner. Combine the
teacher’s, parents’ responses, and your own observations.
• Aljean communicates openly with her parents about her feelings. If she is upset, she seeks their
support. Her mother encourages her and celebrates her achievements. When faced with challenges,
Aljean's mother helps her process her emotions. And as I observe the family promotes respect and
kindness which aligns with the teacher’s emphasis on positive behavior in the classroom.
Cognitive Development
In paragraph form, describe the cognitive development of the learner. Combine the
teacher’s, parents’ responses, and your own observations.
• Aljean is recognized as a slow learner who needs extra help. She performs well overall, she is not an
honor student. Her parents actively monitor her homework and encourage her to do her best. They
establish specific study times and use a calendar to help her stay organized. The teacher communicates
regularly with parents through meetings and social media to discuss Aljean's progress and needs,
ensuring she receives the support necessary for her development.
Findings
Write here your salient findings about the learner.
• Aljean is a well-rounded learner, which means she has strengths in various areas. She faces challenges
in some aspects, particularly in academics. She is considered a slow learner and needs extra help to fully
understand the material. To keep her motivated, her parents consistently support her development,
helping her overcome the challenges she faces. I believe that with this support, she will improve and
reach her full potential soon.
Conclusions
Write your conclusions after you have analyzed the impact of the school and the home on
the learner’s development. The questions in the “Your Analysis” portion of this learning episode can help
you.
•Therefore I conclude that the combination of a caring home and a supportive school is crucial as it
creates a strong foundation for the learners. With continued encouragement from both family and
teachers, the learners is likely to overcome challenges and reach their full potential.
Recommendations
Write you recommendations.
• I recommend that both parents and teachers communicate regularly to discuss the progress and
challenges of the learners. This collaboration will help identify the areas where the learner needs to
improve. Additionally, parents should be supportive of their child in all their activities, as this
encouragement helps keep them motivated.
In the 21st century, as technology continues to evolve, it is also important to limit the time learners spend
playing games and watching videos, as excessive screen time can disrupt their studies and learning.
My Analysis
Your findings and recommendations in the Learner Development Profile will help you answer
the questions here.
1. From your home visit and interview, what do you think is the style of parenting experienced by
the learner? Explain your answer.
• Based on the home visit and interview, it is clear that Aljean experiences an authoritative parenting
style. Which showcase that Aljean’s parents are very involved in her life, especially in her education.
They regularly check her homework and encourage her to do her best, showing that they care about
her success. This support boosts Aljean's confidence, as she knows her efforts are appreciated. Also
open communication it seems that Aljean feels comfortable sharing her feelings with her parents and
knows she can ask for help when she's upset. This nurturing environment helps her understand and
express her emotions, which is key for her development. Additionally, Aljean’s parents set clear rules,
like being respectful and not staying out too late. These guidelines help her learn responsibility and the
importance of boundaries. By having these expectations, her parents teach her valuable life skills. This
will likely help Aljean thrive as she continues to develop.
2. Relating your data with what you learned from child development, what family factors do you
think contribute to the development and over-all adjustment of the learner in school?
• Based on what I have learned the family factor that contribute to the development and over-all
adjustment of the learner in school is the parental support and involvement
as this active involvement not only helps the learners perform better academically but also gives a
sense of security and confidence. When children know their parents care about their education, they
feel more motivated to succeed. Also the open communication
which the learner will have freedom of sharing thier feelings and concerns with thier parent. As it
helps them develop emotional intelligence, which is the ability to understand and manage her
emotions. When children can express themselves freely at home and , they are better equipped to
handle social interactions and challenges at school.
Additionally the Positive Reinforcement which giving praise or celebrate the achievements, no matter
how small. This positive reinforcement help boosts self-esteem and motivates them to engage more
actively in their studies and social life. When children feel proud of their accomplishments, they are
more likely to keep trying and striving for success.
3. Does the communication between the home-school have an effect on the learner? If yes, what
are these effects?
Yes, communication between home and school has a big effect on the learner. First, it improved
academic performance of the learners, when parents and teachers communicate regularly, they
can work together to help the learner do better in school. By sharing information about the
student’s progress, both can identify areas where the learner might need extra help. Another
important effect is the emotional support that comes from good communication. When parents
and teachers share information about the learner’s feelings and challenges, it creates a sense of
security. This support can reduce anxiety and help the student feel more comfortable in their
learning environment. Another is Increased Motivation
When parents are involved and know what is happening at school, it can motivate learners to do
their best in school. Knowing that both their parents and teachers care about their success
encourages students to try their best.
Baumrind’s Parenting Styles
Authoritarian. Parents are very firm with their children and expect unwavering and
unquestioning obedience. Rules are set by parents and misbehavior is met with withdrawal of
affection, physical punishment or threats.
Permissive. Parents are not firm or controlling. They have few expectations. Maybe warm
and caring but appear to be uninvolved and uninterested.
Authoritative. Parents achieved a good blend. They are firm yet loving. Have clear and
reasonable expectations and limits for their children. Treat children with respect and
warmth. Make children understand consequence of their behavior.
Children of:
Authoritarian Parents: are often unhappy, fearful, withdrawn, inhibited, hostile, and
aggressive. They have low self-esteem and difficulty with peers.
Permissive Parents: believe that their parents do not care for them. They are often
impulsive, aggressive, and lack self-control; may they have low levels of independence and
responsibility.
Authoritative Parents: are socially competent, self-reliant, and have greater ability to show
self-control. They have higher self-esteem and are better adjusted.
My Reflections
1. Reflect on your own development as a child. What type of parenting did you experience/ how
did it affect you?
2. As a future teacher, how would you establish good home-school collaboration? How can you
work well with the parents? How can you help them/ how can they help you?
• As a future teacher, I will build good home-school collaboration by using open communication. This
means I can share any problems that come up with students, and parents can help support both me
and their children. I also plan to have regular meetings, like parent-teacher conferences, to talk about
how students are doing and any challenges they might have. These meetings will give parents a chance
to share their thoughts about their child's needs and strengths. I believe that by doing this we can work
together, creating a nurturing environment that makes learners valued, respected fostering love of
learning which is better for students success.
