TEACHER EDUCATION DEPARTMENT
Course Description: This course deals with the goals, materials, content, assessment,
management and methods of teaching science at the secondary level; provides opportunities for
class observation and demonstration teaching.
Course Outcomes: At the end of the course, the students should be able to:
1. Implement a variety of classical and modern teaching method, approaches, strategies,
and techniques in teaching science;
2. integrate the learnings from professional education courses such as curriculum
development, principles of teaching, and assessment of learning in planning, designing,
and implementing the classroom instructions;
3. prepare a technology-infused lesson plans that integrate modern mobile and computer
applications in teaching science; and,
4. produce a pre-recorded demonstration teaching on the assigned topic that exemplify
mastery of the content, expertise on selecting appropriate pedagogy, and fluency on the
use of technology
5. create a summative test and performance task with rubric to measure science learning
constructs.

All handouts/PPTs, and other reading materials as well as templates and video links will
be made available in the Facebook Messenger Group. Likewise a Google classroom will be
created.
Course Requirements
For this course, you will have two performance-based outputs equivalent to your midterm
and final exams (Recorded Video of Lecture and Recorded Micro Teaching), online quizzes /
assessment administered through Google Forms, and Small Group Activity outputs.
Course Policies
1. At the start of the semester, you will be asked to sign an Honor Pledge as an oath to your
honest commitment and participation in the flexible learning arrangement to be employed
by the University this Semester.
2. During in person sessions, you shall wear a decent attire and shall observe proper
decorum throughout the session.
3. For offline, asynchronous activities, you are expected to work diligently on assigned tasks
and to submit outputs on time.
4. All major exams, particularly Midterm and Final Examinations shall be administered as
scheduled (based on the University Calendar).
5. If you miss a major examination or any class activity, your absence may be excused and
you shall be allowed to make up for it only when your reasons are acceptable as assessed
by your instructor.
6. Any form of cheating and dishonesty shall not be tolerated. Once you are found guilty of
such, your chance to earn points or grades for the specific outputs shall be automatically
forfeited.
7. The University’s Grading System shall be followed as appropriate.
Additional Instructions
1. Read carefully all instructions for each task before working on the requirements.
2. Questions related to the course requirements may be coursed through the section’s
Facebook Messenger Application or through email, whichever is more convenient to your
available internet connection or mobile data. Replies will be sent during office hours.
