2.Scope
The scope of this method statement covers the complete installation of the
Nitrogen Injection Fire Protection System (NIFPS) for two 300 MVA substation
transformers located at the [Kom Ombo]. The NIFPS installation will include
the following key components and activities:
1. Nitrogen storage system: This includes the installation of nitrogen
storage tanks or cylinders, pressure regulators, valves, and associated
piping to provide the necessary nitrogen supply for the fire suppression
system.
2. Nitrogen injection system: The nitrogen injection system involves the
installation of dedicated piping, nozzles, or diffusers on the transformer
tanks, along with the integration of the system with the transformer's
pressure relief devices and oil conservator.
3. Monitoring and control system: The installation of temperature and fault
detectors, a centralized control panel, and the integration of the NIFPS
with the transformer's protection relaying and SCADA system to enable
real-time monitoring, control, and alarming capabilities.
4. System integration and commissioning: The comprehensive testing,
adjustment, and commissioning of the entire NIFPS to ensure its proper

4.Equipment & Tools
The successful installation of the Nitrogen Injection Fire Protection System
(NIFPS) for the two substation transformers will require the use of a variety of
specialized equipment and tools. These include, but are not limited to, the

• Nitrogen storage tanks or cylinders with appropriate capacity and
pressure ratings
• Pressure regulators, valves, and flow control devices

Nitrogen Injection System:
• Nitrogen injection nozzles or diffusers designed for transformer

• Stainless steel or corrosion-resistant piping and fittings for the injection

6.Responsibilities
6.1 Project Manager
Responsible for accomplishing the stated project objectives, which include creating
clear and attainable project objectives, building the project requirements, and
managing the constraints of the project management triangle: cost, time, scope,
and quality.

Supervise closely the activities designated to him and ensure that all instructions and
safety procedures are followed and strictly adhered to, also responsible for TBT before
starting the work.
Coordinate all relevant permits and ensure they are current and up to date for the
duration of the activities. The PTW Coordinator shall check the proposed ac�vi�es are
being done as per the specified �me period.
Ensure enforcement of safety procedures in accordance with the approved HSE Plan. Will be
closely monitoring the site engineer’s strict implementation of the MS and Risk Assessment,
the use of proper tools and equipment to maintain safety, certifications of equipment and
their adherence to safety regulations, reporting of any unsafe work or stopping work that

does not comply with ES&H procedures and monitor the implementation of the PTW system,
also responsible about ES&H TBT before starting the work.
The only authorized person to operate any equipment to be used in the project.
6.9 Banksman/Flagman

• Determine the optimal routing for the nitrogen injection piping,
considering the transformer's orientation and accessibility.
• Install the nitrogen injection piping, using appropriate fittings, supports,
and sleeves to protect the piping.
• Connect the nitrogen injection piping to the storage system, ensuring
proper pressure and flow rating.
• Attach the nitrogen injection nozzles or diffusers to the transformer
tank, following the manufacturer's specifications.
• Integrate the nitrogen injection system with the transformer's pressure
relief devices and oil conservator.
7.1.4. Monitoring and Control System Installation
• Mount the control panel in a suitable location, ensuring accessibility and
protection from the elements.
• Install the temperature and fault detectors on the transformer, following
the manufacturer's guidelines.
• Connect the detectors to the control panel using the appropriate wiring
and terminations.
• Integrate the control panel with the transformer's protection relaying
and SCADA system.
• Configure the control logic and alarm settings as per the project
requirements.
7.1.5. System Integration and Testing
• Verify the proper functioning of each NIFPS component, including the
nitrogen storage, injection, and control systems.
