Abstraction
The internship programs are very helpful for us to improve experience practically. This report is a
report describes about the internship program which was planned to helps us on how different
network installation experience had been carried out by Guduru TVET College. When I was
stayed in the ICT center on the practical internship work, I got many experiences from that
organization related to field of study and I give us experience to the organization. This practical
internship includes acknowledgment, introduction, and background of the organization, mission of
the organization, specific job information and management training.

CHAPTER ONE
Introduction
I performed our field practice at Guduru TVET College HNS staff from July 10/2024 to Sep10/2024 GC.
During this training, I learned and practiced numerous knowledge and skills about wired network
installation in Guduru TVET College.
Internship is a program that allows students to get practical knowledge from the working environment as I
will to experience the ability to work with people. It enables us to put into the skill, technique, and
knowledge that are important for success in our future work. As the main purpose of this internship is, to
create a linkage between the theory and practical issue I have gained different practical knowledge in
networking. Thus, this document contains all the basic information about the work experience, basic
information about the organization I stayed, how I got oriented on our work, our duties and
responsibilities, recommendation for the internship and other topics.
During this training, I had learned and practiced good knowledge and skills about wired network
installation in Guduru TVET College. In this document I consider on problem statement/challenge,
objective of the study, significant of the study, methodology, proposed system design such as design goal
and architecture, recommendation and conclusion of the study. In this practical internship, I have
explained theoretical learn up to three years I apply in practical specially wired network installation parts.
CHAPTER TWO
Materials and equipment used in Guduru TVET College

Router: We used this device to connect two or more networks or LAN &
forwards
packets among them - join multiple networks together.
Switch: We used this device to interconnecting networking devices. It can

establish a direct connection from the source to the destination without
passing the data traffic to other networking devices.
Hub: - is a network device used to connect device and create a larger

network.
Small hub have 5-8 ports (work group hubs).hereas, some hubs ports 12 up
to 32 normally.
Server: We use this device to process requests and deliver data to other
(client) computers over a local network or the Internet.
2.2. Types of Cables used in Guduru TVETCollege
Fiber optics: this is a type of cable which is used to carry the connection
from the ethio-telecom through the ground and also used to extend the
connection from the server room to another building and building to the
building.
Console cable: A console cable kit is provided with your router. Use this
kit when connecting your router to a PC or terminal. We also used it for
configuration.
The console cable kit contains: -RJ-45-to-RJ-45 console cables (blue) and etc
RJ-45 Cable: A registered jack (RJ) is a standardized network interface

used for network cabling, wiring and jack construction. The primary function
of registered jacks is to connect different data equipment and
telecommunication devices with services normally provided by telephone
exchanges or long-distance carriers we used commonly as a connector.
RJ-45 Cat-6 cable: We used this cable for data translation between
devices.
Patch cord cable: is cable that carries the connection to the switch.
2.3. Other tools used in Guduru TVET College
Media Converter: We use this device to connect two different media types
such as twisted pair with fiber optic which we take from Tel .
Driller Bean Machine This machine is used to create holes on different

objects. We have used this machine to create hole on the wall and that holds
the rack on the wall
Tester: is electronic materials that checks cable arrangement. We used this

networking tool for:
 To test whether a given Ethernet cable is working or not and

 To test whether a given Ethernet node is working or not.
 To identify the arrangement of the network media.
Screw driver: We used this device to open/stretch and close /compress

each and every screw on the computer. These drivers have different shapes
like chisel, diamond etc.
Crimper Tools: We used this device for crimping an Ethernet cable after
we finish possible order of the color for straight through and crossover using
RJ-45. The major function for which it is designed is to crimp or connect
connector to the end of a network cable. Cutter near the handles that can be
used to cut CAT 6 cable.
Trucking: Is an enclosure usually with a rectangular cross section, and

with one removable or hinged side, that is used to protect cables from
damage and dust and water ingress. We used this device in data
communications transmission systems to provide many users with access to
a network by sharing multiple lines or frequencies
Puncher: This tool used to punch the UTP cable wires down into the blades
built into the jack of the node.
Shielded twisted pair (STP) It is a pair of wires

wound around each other and each pair is placed inside a
protective foil wrap to protect it from crosstalk. It is cheaper than
fiber optic cables but more expensive than UTP. Shielded Twisted
Pair Cable provides better protection from crosstalk and other
interference as compared to Unshielded Twisted Pair Cable
Unshielded twisted pair (UTP)
It is Twisted-pair cabling with no internal shielding. The outer insulating
jacket protects the cable from physical stress or damage but does not shield
the cable from electromagnetic interference .UTP is the most common form
of network cabling for workgroups and departmental local area networks
because of its low cost, flexibility, and good performance.
