PLANT CELL

I. Learning Objectives:
1. Explain what is a cell and its importance
2. Describe the different cell organelles and their functions
3. Compare and contrast the animal from plant cell

II. Materials Needed:


1 Compound Microscope Weak iodine solution hydrilla leaves
1 Glass slide with cover slips/group Cutter 1 potato

1 Medicine dropper/group 1 onion/group


Lab gown,gloves and Mask 1 red ,1 green bell pepper
III. Procedures:
1. Prepare all the necessary materials needed for this experiment.
2. Using the cutter cut a very thin slice of potato and mount at the center of the slide.
3. Add one drop of weak iodine sol’n in your specimen and gently cover it with cover slip.
4. Do the same procedures(1-3) with the rest of your specimen (onion,red and green bell
pepper as well as the hydrilla).
5. Examine all your plant cells preparation under LPO and HPO.
6. Observe the structure of the cells and their arrangement.
7. Draw and color your plant cells.
8. Record your observation.
