It is believed that governments ought to invest their money on

railways rather than roads. For my money, I totally agree with

this statement. This essay will examine my view on the reason
why people concur and dissent with this idea during the period
of global development.

On the one hand, there are many ample reasons why people
want the governments to spend money on railways. First and
foremost, trains are important forms of public transportation for
people living in the urban areas and downtowns because they
usually use the train for traveling to work or anything everyday.
Therefore, spending the governments’ money on railways can
meet residents’ demand to travel. Moreover, should the
government invest money on railways, the number of people
who use public transportation will decrease dramatically
because of the need for trains over private vehicles. Hence, this
will reduce air pollution and gas emission to help the
environment.

On the other hand, there are many reasons why people

disagree with the idea that the governments should spend their
money more on roads have their own viewpoints. First, if the
roads are expanded sufficiently, the traffic congestion will
reduce to help residents travel easily and arrive the place
where they need to go in the fastest way. However, in my point
of view, the more money the governments invest in building
and developing transportation infrastructure, the more private
vehicles participate in roads. As a result, it will have no effect
on expanding roads in major cities in general and urban areas
in particular.

In conclusion, I strongly assent to the idea that the government

responsible for transportation should more invest in expanding
and developing railways by a virtue of the demands of people
residing in major cities and urban areas and the reduction of
the use of public transportation and air pollution.
