VISUAL IMPAIRMENT
Visual problems are often due to refraction errors in the eye, leading to decreased visual
acuity. Common issues include myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism, correctable with glasses.
Certain diseases may cause blindness. Blind need Braille or aural teaching, partially sighted can
read print with aids like magnifiers.
Blind children have different conceptual abilities compared to sighted children. Sighted
children use all senses to organize elements, while blind children rely on touch and must focus
on mobility and orientation to learn effectively.
Educational experiences often visual but can be adapted for visually impaired using
Braille, large print, magnifying glasses. Special electronic devices like Optacon and Kurzweil
Reading Machine also available.
