    POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS
    Exposure routes: Eyes, Skin, Inhalation.
    Eye contact: Causes eye and skin irritation.
    Skin Contact: This product may cause mild transient skin irritation. The severity of the
    irritation will depend on the amount of material applied to the skin and the speed and
    thoroughness with which it is removed. Symptoms include redness, itching and burning of the
    skin. Prolonged or repeated contact with the skin may cause moderate irritation (dermatitis).
    Inhalation: Affects breathing and irritates the respiratory tract. Acute pneumoconiosis
    associated with very high exposure to silica dust has been reported. The first symptoms are
    cough and throat irritation.
    Inhalation of quartz is classified as a human carcinogen. The risk of cancer depends on the
    duration. It can also affect the liver.
    Chronic effects: Chronic exposure can also cause silicosis, a form of lung scarring that can
    cause difficulty breathing, reduced lung function. It can also affect the blood.

    SECTION 4: FIRST AID MEASURES

    After Skin Contact:


    If on skin (on hair): Take off immediately all contaminated clothing . Rinse with water/safety
    shower. Call doctor if irritation persists.

    After Eye Contact:


    If in eyes: Rinse cautiously for several minutes. Remove contact lenses if present and easy
    to do. Continue rinsing. If irritated, call doctor.

    After Inhalation:
    If exposed, get fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give
    oxygen. Get medical attention immediately.

    SECTION 5: FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

    Suitable and Unsuitable extinguishing media:


    Will not burn or support combustion. Use extinguishing media appropriate for surrounding
    fire, such as water spray, dry chemical, foam or carbon dioxide.

    Wear rubber gloves, goggles and chemical protective clothing. Eating, drinking and smoking
    in the work area is prohibited.

    Use NIOSH/MSHA approved respirators for dust containing silica when free silica containing
    bentonite dust levels in the air exceed PEL/TLV's. Avoid creating dusty conditions as it can
    be airborne without a visible cloud of dust.
