CS 2403 – DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING

Answer ALL questions.

PART A — (10  2 = 20 marks)

1. Define energy signals and power signals.

2. What is correlation? What are its types?

3. Find the circular convolution of two sequences x1 n   1, 2, 2,1 and


x 2 n   1, 2, 3,1.

4. Calculate the number of multiplication of needed in the calculation of DFT


using FFT algorithm with 32–point sequence.

5. What is meant by bilinear transformation method of designing IIR filter?

6. Draw the direct form realization of IIR system.

7. What is Gibbs phenomenon?

8. What are limit cycles?

9. List out the application of Adaptive filtering.

10. What do you mean by speech compression?

11. (a) (i) Find the convolution of given signals.

(b) Explain the process of analog to digital conversion of signal in terms of

12. (a) (i) Find eight point DFT of the following sequence using direct method
1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 0, 0. (10)

(ii) State any six properties of DFT. (6)

(b) (i) Compute eight point DFT of the following sequence using radix 2
decimation in time FFT algorithm. (10)

13. (a) The specification of the desired low pass filter is

Design butterworth digital filter using impulse invariant transformation.

(ii) Convert the analog filter with the system transfer function

14. (a) Design a FIR bandstop filter to reject frequencies in the range 1.2 to 1.8
rad/sec using Hamming window, with length N = 6. Also, realize the
linear phase structure of the bandstop FIR filter. (16)

(b) Explain the characteristics of a limit cycle oscillation with respect to the
