GERUND

A gerund is a verb that functions as a noun by adding “-ing” to the base form of
the verb. It is one of the non-countable forms of the verb, meaning it doesn’t
show tense but represents an action or state in a more general, abstract way.

Examples:
• Walking is good exercise. (Here, “walking” is a gerund, acting as the subject
of the sentence.)
• Swimming is my favorite hobby.
• I enjoy reading books.
