Welcome!
I hope you will enjoy the creation of this little butterfly! Please don't hesitate to contact me with any
questions that you may have along the way. Have fun!

Materials You Will Need:

• Crochet hook size: G/4.00mm
• Worsted weight yarn: pink, white (or other colors of your choice)
• Yarn needle
• One pair of 12 mm safety eyes*
• Polyester fiber fill stuffing
• White sewing thread
• Sewing needle

*Note: Safety eyes can be found on Etsy, Amazon, ebay, or your local craft store. The safety eyes are
highly recommended, but they can be substituted with black buttons or yarn if you prefer.

Final measurement for the finished butterfly will be 6.5 inches (16.51 cm) tall.

Abbreviations:
ch(s) – chain/chains
sc – single crochet
sts – stitches
dec – sc decrease st*

*Single crochet decrease stitch explanation:

Insert the hook into the next stitch and yarn over. Pull a loop through so that there are now 2 loops on
the hook. Insert the hook into the next stitch and yarn over. Pull a loop through so that there are now 3
loops on the hook. Yarn over again and pull the loop of yarn through all 3 loops on the hook.

Note: This pattern is crocheted in continuous rows (you will not join each row).

Head
With pink yarn,
Row 1: Ch 2, 6 sc in first ch. (6 sts)
R2: Sc 2 in each sc around. (12 sts)
R3: (Sc 1, 2 sc in next st), 6 times. (18 sts)
R4: (Sc 2, 2 sc in next st), 6 times. (24 sts)
R5: (Sc 3, 2 sc in next st), 6 times. (30 sts)
R6: (Sc 4, 2 sc in next st), 6 times. (36 sts)
R7-12: Sc 36. (6 total rows)
R13: (Sc 4, dec 1), 6 times. (30 sts)
R14: (Sc 3, dec 1), 6 times. (24 sts)
R15: (Sc 2, dec 1), 6 times. (18 sts)
R16: (Sc 1, dec 1), 6 times. (12 sts)
R17: (Sc 2, dec 1), 3 times. (9 sts)

Fasten off, and partially stuff the head. Then, place the 12mm eyes between R11 and R12 of the head,
about 5 sts apart. Finish stuffing firmly.
Antennae (make 2)
With pink yarn,
R1: Ch 2, 6 sc in first ch. (6 sts)
R2: 2 sc in first st, sc 5. (7 sts)
R3: Sc 7. (7 sts)
R4: Dec 1, sc 3, dec 1. (5 sts)
Switch to white,
R5-7: Sc 5. (3 total rows)

Fasten off, leaving yarn tail for sewing. Stuff the antennae with just a little bit of stuffing. Then position
them about two rows down on either side of your beginning circle on the top of the head. Once you
have found the spot that looks good to you, you may want to pin the antennae to the head, so that they
do not move position as you are sewing them on. Sew to the head.

Body
With pink yarn,
R1: Ch 2, 4 sc in first ch. (4 sts)
R2: (Sc 1, 2 sc in next st), 2 times. (6 sts)
R3: (Sc 1, 2 sc in next st), 3 times. (9 sts)
R4: (Sc 2, 2 sc in next st), 3 times. (12 sts)
R5: (Sc 3, 2 sc in next st), 3 times. (15 sts)
R6: (Sc 4, 2 sc in next st), 3 times. (18 sts)
R7: (Sc 5, 2 sc in next st), 3 times. (21 sts)
R8-13: Sc 21. (6 total rows)
R14: (Sc 5, dec 1), 3 times. (18 sts)
R15: (Sc 4, dec 1), 3 times. (15 sts)
R16: (Sc 3, dec 1), 3 times. (12 sts)
Stuff body firmly.
R17: (Dec 1), 6 times. (6 sts)

Fasten off, leaving long yarn tail. Sew the body to the bottom of the head. You may need to add a little
stuffing as you finish sewing them together.

Wings (make 2)
Circle #1
With white yarn,
R1: Ch 2, 6 sc in first ch. (6 sts)
R2: 2 sc in each st around. (12 sts)
R3: (Sc 1, 2 sc in next st), 6 times. (18 sts)
R4: (Sc 2, 2 sc in next st), 6 times. (24 sts)
R5: (Sc 3, 2 sc in next st), 6 times. (30 sts)

Fasten off, and leave a yarn tail.

Circle #2
With white yarn,
R1: Ch 2, 6 sc in first ch. (6 sts)
R2: 2 sc in each st around. (12 sts)
R3: (Sc 1, 2 sc in next st), 6 times. (18 sts)
Fasten off and leave tail for sewing.

Sew the smaller circle to the bigger circle (as

pictured). Then weave in the white ends to one spot,
and trim.

Use white thread and a sewing needle to sew these

ends down.

Wing Outline
With pink yarn, single crochet a border around the
white wings. Sc all the way around until you reach
where you started. Fasten off, leaving a long tail to
sew to the body.

Then pin the wings to the back of the body as

pictured below, and sew on.

Arms (make 2)
With pink yarn,
R1: Ch 5, then sc 4. (4 sts)

Fasten off. Sew to the body, just below the head.

And there you go, you are done! Thank you so much for joining
me in making a cute little butterfly! Enjoy!
