Dolphins are highly intelligent marine mammals known for their playful behavior and close social
bonds. They belong to the family of toothed whales, which includes species like the orca and the pilot
whale. Dolphins are found in oceans around the world and are well-known for their streamlined
bodies and friendly nature. Dolphins are commonly found in shallow seas along the continental
shelves, where the water is warmer and rich with fish. Some species of dolphins also live in rivers,
such as the Amazon River dolphin. Dolphins are often seen swimming near the coast, but some live
far out in open oceans. Dolphins have sleek, smooth bodies that help them move quickly through the
water. They have a long, pointed nose called a beak and a curved dorsal fin on their backs. Dolphins
come in various sizes and colors, depending on their species. For example, the bottlenose dolphin, one
of the most well-known types, can grow up to 4 meters (13 feet) long and is usually gray with a
lighter underside. Dolphins are carnivores, meaning they eat meat. Their diet mainly includes fish,
squid, and other small marine animals. Dolphins hunt using echolocation, a technique in which they
make clicking sounds that bounce off objects, helping them locate their prey even in dark or murky
