INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS

GROUP PROJECT
oo

The purpose of this project is to simulate the decisions that you might be asked to make
in a multinational or global corporation. It is intended to give you first-hand experience in
identifying a market opportunity and developing a market entry strategy. The project is
divided into three main parts.
Your overall task is to do the necessary research and present your findings to the class.
Your presentation will take the form a task force briefing to a group of executives. The
project will be evaluated on the basis of content as well as the quality of the presentation.

PART 1: COMPANY OVERVIEW

Overview company and its international business strategies in the past and at the present
(For example: before and after COVID-19).
- Establishment
- Business performance
- Global market presence

PART 2: COUNTRY NOTEBOOK

Many companies, large and small, have a country notebook for each country in which
they do business. This country notebook contains information a marketer should be aware of
when making decisions involving a specific country market. As new information is collected,
the country notebook is continually updated by the country or product manager. Whenever a
marketing decision is made involving a country, the country notebook is the first database
consulted. The project requires that each group select a country and a product and develop a
country notebook for that country.
Essentially we are looking for two types of data: a) general country indicators
(economic, technological, socio-cultural, financial, political) which relate to the general
1
business climate, and b) potential indicators of the product/service market. The latter include,
but are not limited to, items that constitute barriers to entry (e.g. tariffs, expropriation risks,
regulations, exchange controls, etc.) as well as infrastructure requirements (e.g. media,
distribution systems, banking facilities, etc).

PART 3: COMPANY STRATEGY
