I. Define-
a. Orbits- In the solar system, each of the planets move around the sun in a fixed path. This path is
called its orbit.
b. Blue planet- Over 71 percent of the Earth is covered with water. Therefore from outer space it
appears blue and so Earth is called the 'Blue Planet' .
c. Valleys- V-shaped lowland between hills or mountains is called a valley. There are thick forest in
the valley.
d. Plateau- Highland is flat at the top and looks like a tabletop. This forms a plateau which is also
known as a tableland.
Ans- Seas and oceans water is salty so cannot be used for drinking and cooking purposes.

6. Is the sun really as small as it looks like? Why does it look small?
Ans- No, the sun is a large ball of fire and is very big. It looks small because it is very far away
from the earth.
7.Why is river water not salty like the water in seas and oceans?
Ans- When the snow on mountains melts, the water flows down and forms rivers. Snow is not salty,
and most rivers are formed from melted snow. So, they do not have salty water.
