INSTRUCTION: Integration: You are at the conference for Engineers 2028, you are going to
introduce your Keynote speaker. In 1 page, how you introduce Dr. Jose Rizal as your
keynote speaker. Pls focus on 1 lesson only (choose from lessons 1-16) as your reference.

Good morning, esteemed engineers, innovators, and visionaries!

It is my great honor to welcome you to the Engineers 2028 Conference, where we

celebrate innovation and the transformative power of knowledge. Today, we are privileged
to spotlight an extraordinary historical figure—Dr. José Protacio Rizal.

A true polymath, Dr. Rizal’s life exemplified service, resilience, and ingenuity. During his
time in Europe, he expanded his expertise in medicine, arts, and sciences, always striving
for his nation’s upliftment. In Dapitan, despite exile, he became a beacon of hope—
building schools, advancing agriculture, and using his skills to empower the community.

Rizal’s story reflects the essence of engineering: transforming adversity into opportunity
and creating meaningful change. As we embrace today’s challenges, his legacy inspires us
to ask: How can we serve humanity with our knowledge?

Without further ado, I present to you a timeless visionary, Dr. José Rizal. Thank you.
Bonus Question: What is your favorite line in MI ULTIMO ADIOS and explain it in 1
paragraph only.
My favorite line in Mi Último Adiós is:
Original Version:
“Morir es descansar.”
English Version:
“To die is to rest.”

This line resonates deeply as it captures Rizal’s acceptance of his fate and his hope
for peace after a life of struggle. It reflects his belief that his death is not in vain but a
necessary sacrifice for the greater good of his country. Rizal’s calm embrace of martyrdom
reveals his courage and love for the Philippines, serving as a timeless reminder of the
power of selfless dedication to a cause. It challenges us to find purpose in our efforts,
knowing that even the hardest sacrifices can pave the way for a better future.

FINAL TERM- EVALUATION
Prof. Wenceslao B. Ecoben, PhD.
NAME: Rechelle Ann S. Barquin
DATE: November 28, 2024

Lesson 9: EVALUATION
A. Why did the Propaganda and La Liga Filipina fall?
The Propaganda Movement and La Liga Filipina fell due to internal divisions, limited
resources, and external suppression by colonial authorities. The Propaganda lacked unity
and clear goals, while La Liga disbanded after Rizal’s arrest, with its members split
between advocating peaceful reform and pursuing revolutionary action through the
Katipunan.

Lesson 10: EVALUATION

A. Why did Rizal choose to stay in the house of the commandant instead of staying in
the Jesuits house?
Rizal chose to stay in the house of the commandant in Dapitan rather than the Jesuit
house to maintain a low profile and avoid suspicion. His stay with the commandant
allowed him more freedom, while his association with the Jesuits might have raised
concerns among the colonial authorities.

Lesson 11: EVALUATION

A. During his firing squad, why did Rizal exert his effort to face the people?
Rizal faced the firing squad to demonstrate his courage and dignity, showing that he
remained steadfast in his principles even in the face of death. He wanted to inspire his
fellow Filipinos to continue the fight for freedom and justice, symbolizing his unwavering
commitment to his country’s cause.
Lesson 12: EVALUATION
B. What is the difference between a Poem and Fliptop?
A poem is a structured form of literary expression, often characterized by rhythm, rhyme,
and deep emotional or philosophical themes. A fliptop, on the other hand, is a form of
spontaneous, competitive rap battle where participants exchange improvised verses,
typically focusing on wit, wordplay, and performance.

Lesson 13: EVALUATION

C. Who is Simon in the real life? Who is Elias in the life of Rizal?
In real life, Simon is believed to represent a composite of Rizal’s friends who supported
him in his reformist ideals. Elias, in Noli Me Tangere, symbolizes the oppressed Filipino
people, embodying Rizal’s ideals of revolution and justice. Elias’ character reflects Rizal’s
concerns about the social injustices of his time.

Lesson 14: EVALUATION

A. Can you identify (at least 5) of positive effects of the life of the Filipinos after the
death of Jose Rizal?
After Rizal’s death, Filipinos experienced several positive effects:

1. Nationalism grew stronger, uniting Filipinos for independence.

2. Increased awareness of social injustices inspired reform movements.
3. Educational advancements spread, influenced by Rizal’s advocacy for learning.
4. Inspiration for revolutionaries, like Bonifacio, who carried forward Rizal’s ideals.
5. Cultural pride flourished as Filipinos embraced their identity, influenced by Rizal’s
writings and sacrifices.

Lesson 15: EVALUATION

A. How did Rizal counter the ideas of the Spaniards about the Filipinos?
Rizal countered Spanish colonial ideas by emphasizing the intelligence, capability, and
dignity of Filipinos through his writings. In works like Noli Me Tangere and El
Filibusterismo, he exposed the injustices and discrimination faced by Filipinos, asserting
that they were capable of self-governance and deserved equal treatment under the law.

Lesson 16: EVALUATION

B. Do you think having more sisters than brother makes Rizal more inclined mingle
with women?
Rizal’s closer relationships with women can be attributed to his upbringing in a family with
more sisters than brothers, fostering empathy and understanding toward women. However,
his inclination to engage with women was also shaped by his intellectual curiosity, respect
for their roles in society, and his progressive views on gender equality.
