Cricket

Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field. It’s a sport that
requires a blend of strategy, skill, and endurance.

Field: The cricket field is typically oval-shaped with a rectangular 22-yard long pitch at the center.

Stumps and Bails: Each end of the pitch has a set of stumps (three vertical posts) topped with two bails.

Bat: A flat wooden bat used to hit the ball.

Ball: A hard, leather ball with a slightly raised seam.

Protective Gear: Includes pads, gloves, helmet, and box (for batsmen and wicketkeeper).

Rules

Innings: Each team has one or two innings to bat and score runs.

Runs: Scored by hitting the ball and running between the wickets or by hitting boundaries (4 runs if the
ball hits the ground before the boundary, 6 runs if it crosses the boundary without touching the ground).

Wickets:

Bowler aims to hit the stumps to get the batsman out.

Batsman can be dismissed in several ways: bowled, caught, leg before wicket (LBW), run out, and
stumped.
Overs: An over consists of six legal deliveries bowled by one bowler.

Match Formats: Various formats include Test cricket (five days), One Day Internationals (50 overs per
team), and Twenty20 (20 overs per team).

Terminologies

Batsman: The player who uses the bat to hit the ball and score runs.

Bowler: The player who delivers the ball to the batsman.

Wicketkeeper: Positioned behind the stumps to catch the ball if the batsman misses.

All-Rounder: A player who excels at both batting and bowling.

Duck: When a batsman is dismissed without scoring any runs.

Skills

Batting: Requires precision and timing to score runs.

Bowling: Involves delivering the ball with various techniques (e.g., fast bowling, spin bowling).

Fielding: Skills include catching, throwing, and stopping the ball.

Wicketkeeping: Quick reflexes and agility to catch balls and stump batsmen.
Running Between the Wickets: Coordination and speed to maximize scoring opportunities.
