The past perfect and past perfect continuous remain the same.
“The film had finished by the time I got home” he said
He said (that) the film had finished by the time he got home.
Certain words and time expressions change according to the meaning of sentence as follows
Now then tomorrow the day after, the next day, the following day
Today, tonight that day, that night next week the week after, the following week
Yesterday the day before , the previous day here there
Last week the week before , the previous week This week that week
These days those days ago before
The verb tenses remain the same in reported speech when the introductory verb is in the present, future
or present perfect.
