    A TEXT OF COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED AT THE EMERGENCY MEETING OF OSUEC AND


    STAKEHOLDERS ON THE APPEAL MADE BY ABE OLALEKAN

    Following the controversy surrounding the non-clearance of Mr. Abe Olalekan, a


    presidential candidate from Edugbe Constituency, the Omuo Students' Union
    Electoral Committee (OSUEC) and stakeholders convened an emergency meeting to
    deliberate on his appeal.

    (A) READING OF THE APPEAL

    The OSUEC Chairman, Agboola Olumide, presented the highlights of the appeal as
    thus:

    1. Mr. Abe Olalekan’s prior service as General Secretary (2021–2023) and as


    appointed Vice Chairman of the caretaker committee.

    2. Constitutional limits of two parliamentary sessions, without clarity on whether


    they apply to elected or appointed roles.

    (B) APPELLANT’S REACTIONS

    Mr. Abe Olalekan requested clearance, citing:

    - His appointment, not election, as Vice Chairman.

    - The emotional and financial toll of the late disqualification notice.

    - The need for subjectivity given his efforts and contributions.

    (C) STAKEHOLDERS’ REACTIONS

    Stakeholders expressed diverse views:

    1. Some argued for strict adherence to constitutional guidelines.


    2. Others called for flexibility, noting ambiguities in the constitution and the need for
    peace and unity in Omuo.

    RESOLUTIONS

    1. To prioritize peace, Com. Abe Olalekan is cleared to contest in the 2024 elections.

    2. This is a one-time exception, with constitutional flaws to be addressed.

    3. Future elections will adhere strictly to the constitutional provisions and electoral
    guidelines.
