Network Analysis and Synthesis Assignment_ Mini-Project
Network Analysis and Synthesis Assignment_ Mini-Project
Assignment: Mini-Project
Objective
This assignment aims to evaluate your understanding of network analysis and synthesis by
designing, analyzing, and simulating an electrical network that satisfies given specifications. You
are required to demonstrate your understanding of fundamental concepts, perform detailed
analysis, and design an innovative solution. This is an individual assignment, and collaboration
or use of AI tools is strictly prohibited.
Assignment Guidelines
1. Problem Statement:
Design a band-pass filter network using passive and active components. Your network must
meet the following specifications:
● Center Frequency (f𝐬): 1 kHz
● Bandwidth: 200 Hz
● Gain: 10 dB at the center frequency
● Input and Output Impedance:1 kΩ
2. Scope of Work:
● Perform circuit analysis to derive the transfer function of your design.
● Use network theorems (e.g., Thevenin, Norton, Superposition) to simplify and validate
your design.
● Apply Laplace Transform to derive the frequency response.
● Demonstrate the synthesis of your network by deriving the corresponding realization
using both Foster’s and Cauer’s methods.
3. Deliverables:
Detailed Report:
Simulation Files:
● Simulate your design using tools such as LTSpice, MATLAB, or Multisim. Attach all
relevant simulation files with clear labeling.
Oral Demonstration:
● Prepare a 10-minute presentation to explain your design, analysis, and results. This will
assess your understanding and ability to articulate concepts.
4. Assessment Criteria:
● Clarity and Depth of Analysis (30%):Completeness and correctness of the mathematical
derivations and explanations.
● Design Innovation and Implementation (30%):Creativity and correctness in designing the
network to meet specifications.
● Simulation and Validation (20%): Accuracy and relevance of the simulation results.
● Presentation and Demonstration (20%): Ability to effectively communicate your design
and analysis.
5. Topics Covered:
Ensure you demonstrate knowledge of the following topics in your assignment:
● Circuit laws and network theorems (Kirchhoff’s Laws, Thevenin’s and Norton’s
Theorems, Superposition).
● Laplace Transform and frequency domain analysis.
● Two-port networks and impedance/admittance parameters.
● Realization of networks (Foster’s and Cauer’s forms).
● Design and synthesis of filters.
6. Submission Details:
● Deadline: Dec, 24/ 2024.
● Submit a hard copy of the report and an electronic version of the report and simulation
files.
7. Plagiarism Warning:
● Submissions will be strictly evaluated for originality. Plagiarized work will result in
disqualification from the assignment. Ensure all references and external sources are
properly cited.

Extend your design to include a digital component (e.g., using an op-amp and ADC interface)
and demonstrate how the network can be adapted for digital signal processing.
Good Luck!
