Monday 4th November 2024.

Presentation dates: Presentations will commence on Monday 4th

November 2024. Teams will present in RANDOM order.

Marks will be deducted if any aspect of the project is late or

incomplete.

This project consists of 2 components. An explanation of each aspect

follows:

1 Marketing proposal
This is a written document submitted as a report, but may well include
additional evidence. For example screen shots of the presentation,
photographs, packaging, storyboards, jingles or mock up advertisements.
This document explains the marketing strategy that your team have come
up with to improve sales of the product. Marks for quality rather than
quantity will be awarded.

There are five areas which must be covered in the report. These are:
 The marketing objectives that will be achieved.
 Information about the market (target market, consumer profile, how
to measure increased market share as a result of the success of the
marketing strategy.)
 Market research conducted and an explanation of the sampling
technique(s) used.
 Analysis of your market research findings and explanation of how
the findings have informed your marketing strategy.
 The marketing strategy:

Product
Product development
Price
Reference to competitors, cost and customers
Place
The channels of distribution chosen
Promotion

Guidelines / Rules
1. Your presentation should last between 15 and 20 minutes. Penalties
will be given to teams that do not stick to this requirement.
2. Your team will be asked questions about your marketing strategy at
the end and all team members sho6uld be prepared for this.
3. All team members need to present.
4. Teams may use any visual aids they choose. If video players,
laptops etc are required, you must inform me BEFORE the
presentation. If slides are used, they should not be read from.
5. Feel free to involve the audience – but only if appropriate.
6. Remember you are competing against the other teams and a
professional – but exciting approach will be expected.
7. Teams should dress for a formal presentation.
Content
The presentation should inform the panel of judges what your team have
come up with as a marketing strategy to improve sales.
As a minimum, you should refer to the research findings and the
marketing strategy. Do not purely duplicate the marketing proposal
report.

Grading criteria
The panel of judges will use the reports and presentations to grade the
teams. Marks will be awarded as follows

Teamwork: 10
Research: 10
Viability of strategy: 20
Report content: 20
Presentation skills: 10
Presentation content: 10
MAXIMUM: 80

You will need to be very well organised to complete the project within the
allocated time. You will need to arrange times to meet with your team
mates out of class and will need to split up different tasks to ensure you
are working as efficiently as possible and complete everything on time.
You should aim to spend at least 4 hours per week on this project or you
will not finish by the deadline.

You will need to complete the above in your lesson and prep time. During
your lessons you will be able to ask for assistance if needed.
MEMO

To: Marketing teams

From: Nestlé Marketing Director
Date: 8th October 2024
Subject: Falling sales of Smarties

At the recent board meeting it was reported by the Sales Director

that despite recent re-packaging, sales of Smarties have fallen
dramatically in the past 12 months. Unless this is turned around
by May 2025, the well known line will be withdrawn from our
product portfolio.

This may result in compulsory staff redundancies in production,

admin and marketing.

Time is of the essence. In your allocated teams you have until

Monday 4th November 2024 to submit your proposed marketing
strategy. Teams will present their proposal to the Marketing
Director and her assistants in the week beginning Monday 4th
November 2024.

Needless to say, your full cooperation is needed at this crucial

time and teamwork is key.

Good Luck!
