applications. In this course, students will learn how to apply a number of
statistical techniques to different business settings. Students will learn how to
solve statistical problems by hand and through the use of Excel and Stata.
• Topics will include descriptive statistics, probability distributions, estimation,
hypothesis testing, analysis of variance, and linear regression.
Objectives
Upon completion of MAT 240, students will be able to demonstrate the following:
• Solve problems involving discrete and continuous probability distributions.
• Apply the Central Limit Theorem and recognize its importance in sampling.
• Calculate and interpret confidence intervals
• Construct and interpret a variety of hypothesis tests.
• Calculate and interpret a simple linear regression equation and the associated
correlation coefficient.
• Interpret a multiple linear regression equation and the associated tests of
significance.
• Solve statistical problems using Excel, Stata, MegaStat
