SECTION A
i. 1.A) ,Latitude
ii. vegetation,
iii. Altitude,And these criteria show that the climate is Tropical climate……………………. 03marks

B) Solution
T1=march 2015
T2=April 2019
Mv1=9•47`
Mv2=?.............................................................................................................................01 mark

R c=2 minutes per annum negatively ………………………………………………….01 mark's

The difference in time=T2_T1
2019(April)4
2015(February)2 01 mark's
_4years2months
=42/12
=41/6

Difference in time is 4.2 years ………………………………………………………….01 mark's

The total magnetic variation can be obtained by taking.
1 years=2 minutes
4.2 years= minutes
4.2 years ×2 minutes= 8.4 minutes……………………………………………………… 01 mark's
Hence new magnetic variation is.
9degrees 47 minutes minus 8.4 minutes
=9degrees 36.6 minutes Or 9 degrees 37 minutes ………………………………………..01 mark's

C) Area of square is = full square plus half square divide by 2

Full square is 42
half square is 6 /2 …………………………………………………. 0 2mark's
= 42 + 3
= 45 squares
=Area = 1×1= 1 square km on the map and on the ground is 1×1=1 square km…………………….. 0 1 mark's
=Hence 1km × 1 km = 1 km2
= 45 square× 1 km 2
= 45 km2………………………………………………………………………………………………. 02 mark's
D) Nature of the Land surface
i. The scale of the map used
ii. Purpose of the map
iii. Date of compilation
4 points @ 01 marks………………………………………………………..04 marks

E) Metamorphic rocks
Igneous rocks ……………………………………………………….. 02 mark's

F) Filtration plant………………………………………………………………. 01 mark's

G) The nature of population is in Northern part there is low population on due to highland and but the middle of
the map there is at least presence of population because of low land 0 2 mark's
Factors for population distribution on the map are
Relief karuwe mountain ………………01 mark's
Climate 8degrees 55 seconds ……………01 mark's
Economic factors due to market mkt ……… 01 mark’s

2, Research problem.Is the exploring the interventions and programmes that have been in place or is the
difficulties which need answers………………………. 01 mark's
Six criteria of a good Research
The research problem should come up with a new process, product or principle that can help in improving
practices
i. It should be interesting in a sense that it draws attention and interest to other people
ii. It should be innovative meaning that it improves the current or existing state of affairs and possibly
technology
iii. It should be cost effective in such a way that it produces good values for money,time ,and resources
iv. It should be addressing the problem of the community
v. It should be researched and it should have meaningful
vi. It should be clear and unambiguous
vii. It should be new
viii. It should be specific

3. PHOTOGRAPH
A: solution
S is equal to F/H--h ………………………………………………..02 mark's
Given data
h=500m F,=152mm S=1:20000H=?001…………………………..2 mark's
1/20000=152mm/(H-500)×1000mm
20000×152mm=1000mmH-500000mm ……………………………02marks
3040000mm+500000mm=1000mmH
3540000mm=1000mmH
H=3540000mm/1000mm…………………………………………….02marks
H=3540m
Therefore flying height of an aircraft is3540m…………………… 01 mark's
B:
Solution
Ps=Dp/Dm×ms 02marks
Data given
Dp=30mm ,Dm =40mm, ps=? Ms = 1:40000 001/…………………………2marks
The scale of the photograph is ps= 30/40×1/40000…………………………… 02marks
=30/1600000 02 mark's
1/53333
There fore scale of the photograph is 1:53333 ………………………………….01 mark's

SECTION B( 60 mark's)

7, Introduction
Students should explain the concept of soil
Soil is the upper most part of the earth’s crust that consist of unconsolidated (weathered) materials and
consolidated (un weathered materials which support the plant growth. It contains minerals, organic matter, air
and water. 0 1mark
Main body
Soil is considered /termed as living entity due to the following facts/reasons.
i. Soil is made from parent rock (mother rock) which gives the nature and the origin of soil.
ii. Soil can be created and destroyed through bad methods of farming similar to living entity
iii. Soil passes through different processes ie. Simple and complex processes in its formation similar to
living organisms.
iv. It undergoes time in its formation. The longer the time the mature the soil.
v. It is made up of soil water. (25% of total volume of soil water comes from either rain, rivers or ocean,
similar to living organism whereby 75% of water made up human body.
vi. It is made up soil air which comes from atmosphere and organisms
vii. It is made up of soil temperature similar to human body
6 points@ 03 mark's each
