1. Aim:

The aim of this standard operating procedure is to provide guideline to ensure the audio-visual alarm system
is active whenever there is an upward or downward temperature variation from the set product temperature
requirement.

2. Scope:
Applicable for audio-visual alarm of the chambers used for the storage +2 ⁰C to +8 ⁰C and +15 ⁰C to +25 ⁰C
temperature-controlled products at Panvel Warehouse.

3. Responsibilities:

Warehouse in-charge or his designated person will be responsible for below:


Checking the performance of the audio-visual alarm every month and record the same as per Annexure 1
JWL maintenance engineer: Responsible for first point of contact in trouble shooting of the equipment in
case of any failure of equipment’s such Air-conditioning unit, DG unit, Alarm etc.
JWL Security: Responsible for acknowledging the alarm raised during the alarm test. Observe and report the
temperature excursion alarms to Parazelsus Warehouse In-charge.

4. Procedure:

4.1 Perform challenge test of alarm system and record the same as per Annexure 1.

4.1.1 The alert limit of lower temperature is below +3°C and upper temperature is above +7.1°C.

4.1.2 Preparation of water for Upper degree temperature


4.1.2.1 Take a glass of water and measure the temperature of water, the desired upper level of temperature
required is above +7°C for (+2°C to +8 °C) & temperature above +23°C for (+15°C to +25 °C)
4.1.2.2 For verifying the desired temperature of water, use Digital Thermometer and first check the temperature
of water.
4.1.2.3 Once the Digital Thermometer reached desired level i.e. above +7°C for (+2°C to +8 °C) & above
+23°C for (+15°C to +25 °C) , dip the sensor in water and once upper temperature alarm starts, monitor
the temperature regaining at +7 or +23 degreeC and document the same as per Annexure 1 checkpoints.

4.1.3 Preparation of water for Lower degree temperature


4.1.3.1 Take a glass of cold water and measure the temperature of water, the desired lower level of temperature
required is below + 3 °C for (+2°C to +8 °C) & below +17 °C for (+15°C to +25 °C)
4.1.3.2 For verifying the desired temperature of water, use Digital Thermometer and check the temperature of
water.
4.1.3.3 Once the Digital Thermometer reads desired level below +3°C for (+2°C to +8 °C) & below +17°C for
(+15°C to +25 °C) , dip the sensor in water and once lower temperature alarm starts, monitor the
temperature regaining at +3 or +17 degree and document the same as per Annexure 1 checkpoints.
4.1.4 If the alarm system fails to react warehouse in-charge or his designated person should immediately take
necessary actions to ensure audio visual alarm system becomes functional same day as per contingency
plan.

4.1.5 If it is found that corrective measures cannot be completed on same day it is necessary to deploy an
additional data loggers at HOT spot and COLD spot to monitor and record the temperature at an interval
of 5 min as per Annexure 3.
4.1.6 Record the details of Audio-visual alarm failure and corrective actions taken for making it functional as
per Annexure 4.

4.1.7 Review of challenge test alarms


4.1.7.1 Warehouse Manager or his designee should perform the yearly review of all Audio-Visual alarm
challenge test performed in a calendar year.
4.1.7.2 This review is to ensure all storage areas alarm challenge test have been performed and details are
recorded as per annexure.

4.1.8 Alarms acknowledgement


4.1.8.1 JWL Security personnel shall responsible to Monitor, Observe and Report the temperature excursion
alarms to Parazelsus Warehouse In-charge immediately during working and non-working hours.
4.1.8.2 JWL Security personnel shall observe and acknowledge the alarm raised during the alarm test.

4.1.9 In case alarms are not operating during test cycle the JWL security personnel should inform immediately
to Warehouse In charge.
4.1.10 Warehouse Incharge should inform the issue of non functioning of alarm immediately to JWL
maintenance engineer who will be the first point of contact in trouble shooting of the equipment in case
of any failure of equipment’s such Air-conditioning unit, DG unit, Alarm etc.
