2. FITTING PROCEDURE:
2.1 Switch off the Radar and isolate from ship’s mains supply.
2.2 Remove existing nuts, spacers and tab washers on ONE SIDE AT A TIME and
discard.
2.3 Replacement studs are supplied in this kit, only replace Antenna studs which have:-
Damaged threads caused by the removal of the Nut.
Been extracted from the Antenna because the Nut(s) have seized on the stud
threads during the removal process.
Are loose or in need of replacement.
2.4 To remove a damaged or loose stud use the two M12 plain nuts supplied in this kit
locked together to extract the damaged stud.
2.5 Before fitting new stud(s), apply Permabond thread locking compound to the short
threaded portion (10mm long) of the new stud(s).
2.6 Using the two M12 plain nuts supplied in this kit locked together, fit the new stud(s)
into the antenna ensuring they are fully seated into the antenna body (the thread
should protrude approximately 30mm from the underside of the support casting).
Torque to 30Nm and allow a minimum of 30 minutes curing time for the Permabond
to reach working strength. (Ideally working strength is recommended but if time
does not permit then the installation can proceed with care).
When completed discard the plain nuts; these must not be used in place of the
Hardlock Nuts.
2.7 Apply Denso Paste to both studs and Hard Lock Nut Tapers before reassembly.
2.8 Fit Spacers and Hard Lock nuts to the Rear Stud first ensuring they are the correct
way up as shown in Fig 3a & 3b. Torque first nut to 55Nm and second nut to 35 Nm
using a suitable torque wrench.

2.9 Fit Spacers and Hard Lock nuts to the Front Stud last ensuring they are the correct
way up as shown in Fig 3a & 3b. Torque first nut to 55Nm and second nut to 35Nm
using a suitable torque wrench.
2.10 After assembly apply Denso Paste liberally to both stud(s) and nuts to prevent
corrosion.
2.11 Repeat Steps 2.2 to 2.10 on the other side for each stud to be replaced.
