Astral Plane Information
1. T he Astral Plane is another plane of existence, also known as the astral sea. The
surface of the Astral Sea is the primary connective tissue between different planes of
existence. (These planes of existence are also known as manifolds.)
2. A manifold manifests topology based on proximity, appearing flat from a distance.
When viewed in this way, manifolds are layered like a stack of parchments.
3. The standard “true topology” is spherical. (Citation given, but not elaborated upon.)
4. The book contains mathematical proof that an object approaching a manifold
perpendicularly will end up in orbit of that manifold once it gets within the “true
topology proximity” of the manifold.
5. The astral plane retains its lack of topology, and seamlessly interconnects between
different Manifolds via Nexus Nodes.
6. A single plane of existence can (and often does) have multiple nexus nodes; These
can be used to travel into and out of the astral sea, using it as a shortcut.
7. The Astral Sea can be treated as a flat (non-euclidean) plane without topology while
outside of it, but it has Euclidean depth. This is based not on matter or energy, but
on magical density. With the ‘surface’ of the sea being an artificial differentiation of
mana.
8. The perceived surface of the astral sea varies in its height, stability, and definition.
Much as tides and surface conditions of water change.
9. Nexus Nodes keep pieces of the Astral Sea localized and stable, but only at a
surface level. (Going down, the localization and stabilization of a Nexus Node on the
astral sea decreases in effect, as per the inverse square law.)
10.Nodes are not entirely stable. (The book has no citation or further detail on this point,
and notes this.)
11.Reference is made to Dragons and Gith having some form of access to Nodes. (The
book has no citation or further detail, and does not make note of this. It is unclear if
this access is a supernatural ability, or learned practice.)
12.There are cities, monsters, and ecologies within the astral sea. (Citation is given, but
not elaborated upon.)
13.Time and Space are theoretically comprised of the same continuum controlled by
fundamental forces, but the conditions of the continuum are not the same on each
plane of existence. (The book describes this as “The universal settings” and
theorizes that there are manifolds inaccessible due to their incompatibility with the
“settings” of the astral sea. The book has citation.)
14.The book makes citations to, but does not fully describe the idea of “Surface
Membranes” on each manifold… and theorizes that changing the “settings” of a
membrane can be used to artificially separate manifolds that would otherwise be
compatible.
15.It is possible to make accurate models of the “local manifold array” using cartesian
geometry. (Citation given, dated works.)
