Ancient Wilmotts elsewhere in Gloucestershire, e.g. Newent and Thornbury in the 1300s, and around Newnham in 1522 Military Survey. V Possibly one or more of the following, all of or around Bitton : William bapt 27.10.1633 at Hanham/Oldland, son of John Wilmoth Samuell bapt 18.2.1635 at Hanham/Oldland, son of John Welmot and his wife A--- (possibly Ann or Anne or Alice) John Wilmotte buried 21.4.1636 at Bitton Richard Willmott buried 7.10.1639 at Bitton Mary bapt 1.11.1649 at Hanham/Oldland, daughter of John and Mary Wilmott John bapt 8.4.1665 at Bitton, son of John Wilmot / Willmot and many others until .. V CHARLES (c1680-1746) Siblings : maybe Isaac, maybe John. Believed born Bitton c1680. Yeoman Farmer. Died probably late 1746, or maybe early 1747. Married (i) Sarah Joy or Jay at Hanham Abbotts in 1705. Married (ii) Susanna Jay at Yate 30.6.1717. Susannah was buried at Bitton 24.8.1744. Letters of Administration 14.1.1747 say that Isaac Wilmott his lawful son of Bitton in the county of Gloucester, yeoman, Henry Pearce of Wick in the same county, blacksmith, and John Dore, were bound in the sum of five hundred pounds to administer his estate. Henry Pearce was the father of Elizabeth Pearce who Charless son Isaac married. V ISAAC (1720-1785) Siblings : George (c1717-1777), Susannah (c1725-?), and step-siblings Elizabeth, Sarah, Ann. Born 1720. Yeoman Farmer. Died at Bitton 24.2.1785. Married Elizabeth Pearce, daughter of Henry (a blacksmith) and Mary of Wick & Abson, at Pucklechurch 25.8.1745. V HENRY (1747-1827) Siblings : Charles (c1746-?), maybe Samuel (c1747-?), Mary (c1749-?), George (c1751-1753), Isaac (c1752-1752), George (c1753-1826), Isaac (c1755-c1838), Betty (c1756-?), Susan(nah) (c1758-?). Born early 1747. Farmer. Died 7.2.1827. No record of where Henry and his sister Susan(nah) were born or baptised, but all the other siblings were baptized at Wick & Abson. Married Jane Gay 29.8.1776 at Abson. (He signed, she marked). Jane was the daughter of John Gay and Mary nee Toghill. Jane was baptised in Feb 1750 at Pucklechurch, died 22.9.1827, buried 28.9.1827 at Wick & Abson , age 77. Believed Henry died 7.2.1827, buried 8.2.1827 at Wick & Abson , age 80. V

SAMUEL (1776-1864) Siblings : Mary (c1780-???), Sarah (c1781-1783), Sarah (c1783-???), Henry (c1787-???), Isaac (c1790-???), Catherine (c1792-1793), John (c1795-???). Baptised 10.11.1776 at Wick & Abson. Farmer/Carrier. Died 20.5.1864, buried 25.5.1864 at Oldland. Married Mary Cary of Bitton on 28.4.1802 at St James, Bristol. Mary is age 72 in 1851 census. Samuel in 1851 census is age 76, born Wick & Abson, farmer with 30 acres and employing one labourer (most probably his son James, who in 1841 and 1851 is an ag lab living with mum and dad). In 1841, Samuel was a farmer at North Common, and in 1861 a lodger at Oldland Bottom (probably retired and living with a relative). A Samuel W bapt at Oldland on 6.3.1774, parents not identified, might be the same one but probably not. Children of this Samuel and Mary are believed to include James (c1813-?) and Henry (c1815-?), shown below, who were privately baptized together on 24.12.1816. V SAMUEL (c1805-1865) Siblings : James (c1803-1812), James (c1813-?), Henry (c1815-?). Born 1805/06. Baptised 7.2.1808 at Hanham, age 2. Hatter. Died 24.4.1865. Married Sarah Short of Oldland at St Augustine the Less, Bristol on 9.1.1825. Lived at Court Lane, Oldland Bottom in 1841 and 1851. In the 1861 census, Samuel is shown as a felt hat maker. His will describes him as a hatter of Oldland Bottom, and he leaves all to wife except gun, fishing rod and 10 to son Albert. V JOHN (1828-????) Siblings : Mary, Kezia, Ruth, Charles, Elizabeth, Harriet, Albert (all born between c1829 and c1848). Bapt 13.7.1828 at Oldland Common. Silk Hatter. Married Sarah Brain c 1858. Sarah was born at Rodbourn, Wilts 12.5.1833. John may have had a prior marriage, but no details are available. John in 1881 census = age 51, silk hatter, born Oldland Common, head of household, married, residing 18 Clark Street, Stapleton Road, Bristol. John travelled the country, doubtless for work reasons, and his children were born not only in Bristol but Nottingham, Leicester and London. V ALFRED (1860-1933) Siblings : Ellen, Samuel, Henry, Arthur, Ada Elizabeth (all born between 1861 and 1865). Born in Nottingham. Hat Department Manager at a London store. Married Harriet Hart (1865-1947) at St Olaves, Southwark, London on 25 December 1884. V FREDERICK (1902-1968) Siblings : Ada Elizabeth, Jessie, Alice Gertrude, Ethel H, Lucy May (all born between 1885 and 1901). Bank Official. Married Madeline Douglas (1905-1984). V
