    Holiday homework

    General Instructions:
    Complete the tasks in a separate notebook.
    Write all answers neatly and show all steps for calculations.
    Illustrate your answers with diagrams wherever necessary.

    Chapter: Circle
    Theory Questions:
    1.Define a circle. Explain the terms: radius, diameter, chord, arc, sector, and segment.
    2.Prove that the perpendicular drawn from the center of a circle to a chord bisects the
    chord.
    Activity:
    Draw three circles with radii 3 cm, 5 cm, and 7 cm. Mark two different chords in each
    circle and verify the theorem: "The perpendicular from the center of a circle to a chord
    bisects the chord."
    Application Problems:
    1.A chord of a circle is 10 cm long and its distance from the center is 6 cm. Find the
    radius of the circle.
    2.A wheel makes 200 revolutions to cover 880 meters. Find the radius of the wheel.

    Chapter: Heron’s Formula


    Direct Application:
    1.Find the area of a triangle with sides 7 cm, 24 cm, and 25 cm using Heron’s formula.
    Real-life Application:
    1.The sides of a triangular park are 120 m, 80 m, and 50 m. Find the cost of leveling the
    park at ₹10 per square meter.
    Challenge Question:
    1.A triangular plot has sides 13 m, 14 m, and 15 m. Calculate its area and the length of
    the altitude corresponding to the largest side.

    Chapter: Euclid’s Geometry


    Conceptual Questions:
    Write Euclid’s five postulates and explain their significance in geometry.
    Explain the difference between axioms and postulates with examples.
    Application:
    Verify experimentally (by drawing) that a point equidistant from the endpoints of a line
    segment lies on the perpendicular bisector of the segment.

    Research how the concept of geometry is applied in architecture or engineering. Write a
    short essay (200-300 words) and include real-life examples.
