Curl-up Test

Introduction: @RhenLiz All Access (yt.com)

The curl-up exercise is one of the most common exercises that target
the abdominal muscles. The curl up exercise works on the endurance of the
abdominals, important in back support and core stability. Having abdominal
muscles with high endurance helps prevent low-back pain.
The curl-up requires use of the abdominal muscles to curl the upper
body off the floor. It requires only a partial sit up and hence the hip flexors
(iliopsoas is the strongest hip flexor) do not participate in the movement.
Research has shown that in a full sit up the hip flexors do most of the work
(Physiopedia).

developing core strength and identify areas where they need to focus
their training efforts.
 Fitness assessments:
Used in various fitness programs like the FitnessGram to measure
abdominal strength and endurance, allowing trainers to identify
individuals who may need targeted core strengthening exercises.
 Sports performance evaluation:
Coaches can use the curl-up test to assess an athlete's core strength and
identify potential weaknesses that might impact performance in their
sport.
 Rehabilitation programs:
Physical therapists may incorporate the curl-up test to monitor progress
in patients recovering from back injuries or abdominal surgeries,
ensuring proper core engagement during rehabilitation exercises.
