The First Station Jesus Is Condemned To Death

We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You. Because by Your holy Cross You have redeemed the world. The chief priests and the entire Sanhedrin kept trying to obtain false testimony against Jesus in order to put him to death, but they found none, though many false witnesses came forward (Mt 26:59-60). O Jesus, meek and uncomplaining, teach me resignation in trials. Through her heart, His sorrow sharing All His bitter anguish bearing Now at length the sword has passed

The Second Station Jesus Carries His Cross


Then Pilate took Jesus and had him scourged. And the soldiers wove a crown out of thorns and placed it on his head, and clothed him in a purple cloak, and they came to him and said, "Hail, King of the Jews!" So Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple cloak. And Pilate said to them, "Behold, the man!" When the chief priests and the guards saw him they cried out," Crucify him! (John 19:1-6).

My Jesus, this Cross should be mine, not thine; my sins crucified Thee. O, how sad and sore distressed Was that Mother highly blessed Of the sole Begotten One.

The Third Station Jesus Falls The First Time


We had all gone astray like sheep, each following his own way; But the Lord laid upon him the guilt of us all (Is 53:6, 12).. O Jesus, by this first fall, never let me fall into mortal sin. Christ above in torment hangs She beneath beholds the pangs Of her dying, glorious Son.

The Fourth Station Jesus Meets His Sorrowful Mother


Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed. And you yourself a sword will pierce (Luke 2:34-35) O Jesus, may no human tie, however dear, keep me from following the road of the Cross.

Is there one who would not weep, 'whelmed in miseries so deep Christ's dear Mother to behold.

The Fifth Station Simon Helps Jesus Carry His Cross


As they led him away they took hold of a certain Simon, a Cyrenian, who was coming in from the country; and after laying the cross on him, they made him carry it behind Jesus (Luke 23:26) Simon unwillingly assisted Thee; may I with patience suffer all for Thee. Can the human heart refrain From partaking in her pain In that Mother's pain untold.

The Sixth Station Veronica Wipes The Face Of Jesus


He grew up like a sapling before him, like a shoot from the parched earth; There was in him no stately bearing to make us look at him, nor appearance that would attract us to him. he was spurned and avoided by men, a man of suffering, accustomed to infirmirt, One of those from whom men hid their faces, spurned, and we held him in no esteem (Is 53:2-3).

O Jesus, thou didst imprint Thy sacred features upon Veronica's veil; stamp them also indelibly upon my heart. Bruised, derided, cursed, defiled She beheld her tender Child All with bloody scourges rent.

The Seventh Station Jesus Falls The Second Time


Yet it was our infirmities that he bore, our sufferings that he endured, while we thought of him as stricken, as one smitten by God and afflicted (Is 53:4). By Thy second fall, preserve me, dear Lord, from relapse into sin. For the sins of His own Nation Saw Him hang in desolation Till His spirit forth He sent.

The Eighth Station Jesus Meets The Women Of Jerusalem


A large crowd of people followed Jesus, including many women who mourned and lamented him. Jesus turned to them and said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep instead for yourselves and for your children

(Luke 23:27-28). My greatest consolation would be to hear thee say: "Many sins are forgiven thee, bacause though hast loved much." O sweet Mother! Fount of Love, Touch my spirit from above Make my heart with yours accord.

The Ninth Station Jesus Falls The Third Time


Though he was harshly treated, he submitted and opened not his mouth. Like a lamb led to the slaughter or a sheep before the shearers, he was silent and opened not his mouth. Oppressed and condemned, he was taken away, and who would have thought any more of his destiny? When he as cut off from the land of the living, and smitten for the sin of his people. A grave was assigned him among the wicked and a burial place with evildoers. Though he had done no wrong nor spoken any falsehood. But the Lord was pleased to crush him in infirmity. If he gives his life as an offering for sin, he shall see his descendants in a long life, and the will of the Lord shall be accomplished through him. Because of his affliction he shall see the light in fullness of days (Is 53:7-10) O Jesus, when weary upon life's long journey, be Thou my strength and my perseverance.

Make me feel as You have felt Make my soul to glow and melt With the love of Christ, my Lord.

The Tenth Station Jesus Is Stripped Of His Garments


When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they toook his clothes and divided them into four shares, a share for each soldier. They also took his tunic, but the tunic was seamless, woven in one piece from the top down. So they said to one another, "Let's not tear it, but cast lots for it to see whose it will be, "in order that the passage of scripture might be fulffilled (John 19:23-24) My soul has been robbed of its robe of innocence; clothe me, dear Jesus, with the garb of penance and contrition. Holy Mother, pierce me through In my heart each wound renew Of my Savior crucified.

The Eleventh Station Jesus Is Nailed To The Cross


Those passing by reviled him, shaking their heads and saying, "You would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself, if you are the Son of God, [and] come down from the cross!" Likewise the chief priests

with the scribes and elders mocked him and said, "He saved others; he cannot save himself. He trusted in God; let him deliver him now if he wants him. For he said, 'I am the Son of God'" (Mt 27:39-43). Thou didst forgive Thy enemies; my God, teach me to forgive injuries and forget them. Let me share with you his pain Who for all our sins was slain, Who for me in torments died.

The Twelfth Station Jesus Dies On The Cross


But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs, but one soldiers thrust his lance into his side, and immediately blood and water flowed out (John 19:33-40) Thou art dying, my Jesus, but Thy Sacred Heart still throbs with love for Thy sinful children. Let me mingle tears with thee Mounring Him who mourned for me, All the days that I may live.

The Thirteenth Station Jesus Is Taken Down From The Cross

The centurion who witnessed what had happened glorified God and said, "This man was innocent beyond doubt." When all the people who had gathered for this spectacle saw what had happened, they returned home beating their breasts; but all his acquaintances stood at a distance, including the women who had followed him from Galilee, and saw these events (Luke 23:47-49) Receive me into thy arms, O Sorrowful Mother; and obtain for me perfect contrition for my sins. By the cross with you to stay There with you to weep and pray Is all I ask of you to give.

The Fourteenth Station Jesus Is Placed In The Sepulchre


They took the body of Jesus and bound it with burial cloths along with the spices, according to the Jewish burial custom. Now in the place where he had been crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had yet been buried. So they laid jesus there because of the Jewish preparation day; for the tomb was close by (John 19:38-42). When I receive Thee into my heart in Holy Communion, O Jesus, make it a fit abiding place for Thy adorable Body. Amen.

Virgin of all virgins blest. Listen to my fond request: Let me share your grief divine.

Closing Prayer Prayer before a Crucifix


Look down upon me, O Good and Gentle Jesus, while before Your face I humbly kneel, and with the most fervent desire of my soul, I pray and beseech You to fix deep in my heart lively sentiments of faith, hope, and charity, true contrition for my sins, and a firm purpose of amendment; while with deep affection and grief of soul I mentally contemplate Your five most precious wounds, recalling to mind the words which David, Your prophet, said concerning You: They have pierced My hands and My feet, they have numbered all My bones.
