Are you eating out everyday? Chomping on pizza or gulping down pop? Spending money every day? Come on , you know you don't need it. Why not just make yourself a sandwich at home? Eating like this every day makes you gain many calories, and it's not healthy for you. On an average, lunches brought from home have 314 less calories than ones bought from outside or the cafeteria. Maybe you are getting something healthy everyday like a salad or a tuna sandwich, but everyday youre spending money. An average pizza that kids at Winchester eat is between 2-4 dollars, imagine what you could buy yourself if you saved that money and didn't buy any lunch for the whole school-year. Maybe you could go shopping! You could have on an average $20 for a weeks worth of buying lunch! Also, think about whose money it is. Your parents work very hard to provide you with money every day for you to buy lunch. The question is, to buy or not to buy?
Interview by: Jessica Huang Yeah, stop spending so much money No, its not a good idea to spend to much money on pizza etc. -Badria Saeed - Zakarie Wahlie

TOO MUCH OF A WASTE.

THE NEWSPAPER TEAM GOT SPEAKUP GRANT!

A couple months ago a Speak Up grant was written for $1000 that would go towards the Newspaper Team. The grant had required us to have a project, which was of course the newspaper. The newspaper got student more involved in school and familiar with activities and events occurring in school. The newspaper also empowers students to let out their feelings and thoughts. Months later, we got it! We will be buying new cameras, voice recorders for the team members to use, to get it up and going and maybe some wristbands or pins for a little advertisement. WOOHOO!

FAREWELL-COME
We said farewell and good luck to Ms. Bennett. We all miss our principal who has gone off to OISE. She was always there encouraging the students to do their best and always making each and every student feel special. But of course we now say hello and welcome to Mr. Puopolo, we hope you enjoy your time at Winchester! Winchesters The Place to Be!

TIME FOR SKATING! at Winchester

Confidence Paid Off!

It is that time of year, where all you want to do is spend time out doors, doing all the winter activities! Winchester is going skating! Skating has begun in all classes. Classes will be going to Moss Park Arena , Harbourfront or City Hall. If you have not had a chance to go, don't be so blue! If you have not yet to go with your class and you think you might not be going this year round, make sure to sign up for after-school skating. There are sign up sheets out side of Ms. McCoy's room on the bulletin board. You will be going to the Ryerson Rink with Mr. Smith after-school for about an hour and a half, so kick on your skates and have a ball!

The girls basketball team was a strong playing team. We may have lost 3 games and won 1 game but we stayed strong! We all played very well. Whether we won or lost we still had fun! We didn't care if we won or not, because we had a great time, playing and fooling around. It was very fun, and even as the grade eights go off into high school and we stay, we will forever enjoy being on a sports team! Especially basketball! Go Winchester Girls Basketball Team !

GOOD LUCK TO THE GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TEAM AND THE BOYS BASKTEBALL TEAM. HAVE A GREAT SEASON!

A: I felt stressed, but everyone around me

was supportive. When I went to my audition I was scared. But, when I finally got it over with, it was a relief

Q: When are you finding out if you made it

or not?

A: February 7th
It was a good experience. I'm happy that all this high school stuff trying out and applying is done because now I can focus on school
