    SPIPA: A Synopsis

    Established by the Government of Gujarat in 1962 State Level Administrative Training Institution for Training government functionaries An autonomous body (registered under the Indian Societies Act) in October, 2004

    Vision
    Considering capacity building of human resources as an investment and not an expense, we envisage emerging as a key Center for Excellence in governance. Moving from the role of support to that of strategic

    partner, we see ourselves as catalysts in developing robust and vibrant


    public organizations.

    SPIPA- Regional Training Centres (RTCs)

    Six RTCs:

    Ahmedabad Gandhinagar Surat Rajkot Vadodara Mahesana

    Functions
    SPIPA conducts different kinds of training programs for Central and State Government employees, Foundation Courses,

    Executive Development Programs etc. SPIPA also runs the State Institute of Rural Development, the Gujarat Institute of Disaster Management and a Center for Good Governance.

    The institute also runs a popular Civil Services Study Center,


    from which about a dozen successful candidates enter into the Civil Services every year

    Activities of SPIPA

    Executive Development Programmes (2-3 days each) designed with useful, relevant and concurrent content for target group participants

    Qualitative foundation training to State Government employees on first appointment

    Seminars, conferences, discussions, symposia, workshops etc Civil services study center Conducting departmental examinations for promotions Publications

    Nodal Agency to create RTI Awareness

    Reviewing the on going projects, examining documents, preparing background note and facilitating with different branches for the synchronization of the project

    work

    Monitoring the projects undertaken by the institution like Centre for WTO Studies, Customized Courses in EDP Branch, Good Governance programs

    Evaluation of the proposals received from Consultants Improvement in the training programs that will be held in the institute Liazoning with Government of India and various authorities for ensuring seamless project operations

    Assisting in improvements being planned and/or undertaken in modernization,


    installing improved IT & Communication, installing modern tools and methods of training (both hardware and software)

    Assisting/Managing various Training Programs, Mid-Career Interaction Meets and the like given to the Institute by the Government of India

    Managing the new activities, such as Lecture Series, MOU with National Institute of Administrative Research

    Monitoring of the usage of grants received from Govt. of India/ Govt. of Gujarat for different projects

    Managing the important projects taken up by the Institute, such as

    infrastructure developmental projects like SMDC building, Mahesana RTC,


    renovation of the hostel building, furnishing the Ahmedabad RTC
