Safe Work Procedures


1. a. Before commencement of work Obtain relevant permit from relevant authorities and Main Contractor before commencement of work. Perform underground utilities check by engaging LCDW and obtain relevant NCE before commencement of work. Establish and provide Traffic Control and Emergency Response Plan. Ensure work area has been safely secured, adequate barrication and signages have been provided. Ensure site personnel deployed to perform the activity has the relevant training. Ensure machinery, equipments and tools for the activity are in good operational order and had undergo the necessary checks. Conduct RA and SWP Briefing before commencement of work.

2. a. b. During commencement of work Provide proper access and egress to the work area. Ensure personnel involved has the required PPE and uses it correctly. Machinery must be positioned and operated in such a manner that will not endanger any person involve in the activity. Excavated materials and other super imposed loads such as removed earth, equipment, shall be placed at least 600mm away from the edge of open excavation. Excavated soils are being dumped into soil tanks. Shorings shall be designed by PE and provided according to the designs. Site Engineer shall carry out daily inspection of the excavated area before commencement of work, and after every rain or other changing conditions. Ground water must be pumped and kept out from the bottom of all excavations regularly. Ensure banksman and traffic controller are present to guide machinery and public vehicular movement. Periodic gas check to be conducted by Confined Space Assesor before entering into the excavated area and at specified intervals. Group entering the excavated area to be equipped with Personal Gas Monitoring Device. Provide adequate lightings and mechanical ventilations. Ensure there is no incompatible activity being carried out at the same time. All electrical devices to have the relevant LEW inspection stickers. Provide fire watchman for hot work activity. Ensure TBM Machine has been switched off with its operating key kept by TBM Operator. Ceased work under bad weather condition.

In the event of any emergency situation, ceased all work activity, notify Main Contractor and proceed to assembly area. In the event of any incident, seek for immediate medical treatment and report incident to Main Contractor. In the event of any machinery breakdown, ensure only qualified and competent person to carried out the repair work. Ensure proper equipment is being used in the aid of any repair work. Ensure emergency response equipments are made available at the work area.
