Why the Stack Defense?
Strong End (BE) “2” Technique on Strong Tackle. On snap, BE attacks inside hip of TE. If no TE, Work to
outside hip of ST. BE is responsible for containment and QB on Option. (C GAP)
Nose Tackle (NT) “2” Technique on Center. On snap, NT attacks inside hip of Strong Guard. Work heel to heel
on guard. NT s responsible for FB on option. (A GAP)
Weak End (DE) “2” Technique on Weak Tackle. On snap, DE attacks outside hip of WT. DE is responsible for
containment and QB on Option. (C GAP)
Sam Linebacker (SLB) “20” Technique , heels at 4 ½ yards stacked behind SE. Blitzing Strong B Gap. As SLB blitzes,
bend toward FB. Not responsible for any pass responsibility. Pressure QB!
Mike Linebacker (MLB) “20” Technique , heels at 4 ½ yards stacked behind NT. Responsible for A Gap opposite NT.
Read FB. FB steps up, meet him in hole. Pass wise, middle hole, 10 – 15 yds deep.
Will Linebacker (WLB) “20” Technique , heels at 4 ½ yards stacked behind DE. Blitzing Weak B Gap. As WLB blitzes,
bend toward FB. Not responsible for any pass responsibility. Pressure QB!
Strong Safety (S$) Split difference between ST and #2 Receiver. If Receiver is wider than 10 yards, get 5 yards
deep. Read through Tackle. Low hat, play run. High hat, pass. Wall #2, get receivers to hash.
Weak Safety (W$) Split difference between WT and #2 Receiver. If Receiver is wider than 10 yards, get 5 yards
deep. Read through Tackle. Low hat, play run. High hat, pass. Wall #2, get receivers to hash.
Free Safety (FS) Line up over SG, 10 yards deep. Reading last man on L.O.S. Low Hat, run responsibility, play
alley. Option responsibility is QB to Pitch. High Hat, Middle third, nobody beats you deep.
Strong Corner (SC) 7 yards over #1 Receiver. Pass first! Reading #2 receiver. On snap, get depth, outside third.
On run, force to inside. Run away, home run saver, get to opposite end zone cone, save TD.
Weak Corner (SC) 7 yards over #1 Receiver. Pass first! Reading #2 receiver. On snap, get depth, outside third.
On run, force to inside. Run away, home run saver, get to opposite end zone cone, save TD.

and spill to MLB. If pass read, drop to hash rerouting everybody outside and run to the flat.
