    FANDOM- Wikis/Forums

    EDT 180 Summer 2019- Katlyn Nelson


    What is the purpose?

     The purpose of this social media is to help those who are interested in games, shows,
    movies, books and others can look up the information about the games, shows, movies
    books, etcetera. It is also used as a forum for those to ask questions, discuss and create
    polls and more. It is a website to help those who needs to better understand and item
    they are interested in and met others who have the same interest as them. It is a
    community.

    What are the popular features?

    WIKI: This is where those who are visiting the website can look up about the
    character, they are interest in such as (my favorite series) Claire Fraser from

    Forum: This is where people can create their own polls or ask questions if they
    are missing an important piece in the show, game or movie. It is also the
    community of the group where interaction can be used.

    Creating your own WIKI: If there is a source missing, such as a show (it may be
    a new show being shown on television), the audience can create their own
    WIKI and fan page for others who is also interested in the fandom can use to
    their ability. They can add to the WIKI page, create forums or the community.

    Who is the intended audience?

     The intended audience is anyone who is following shows, books, games and movies and
    would like to know more. This can be for teenagers to adults.

    How does it fit into the characteristics of
    social media?

     It fits into the characteristics of social media because it is a fandom which others can
    interact with each other and use as research for things they are passionate about. They
    can create their own community, their own role plays, and be who they are with their
    fellow Fandoms.

    Why might we care about this social
    media?

    o We might care for this social media because it is a website used for
    helping those in a fandom read more into their fan pages, communicate
    with others in their fandom and spread knowledge.

    Why might we adopt this social media?

     Adopting this social media, it is a place for people with the same interest to met. This is not
    Facebook or Twitter, but it is a home for those to come together under the same love for
    games, shows, movies and books. It is a community where those can agree, disagree,
    argue, create pages, ask questions, research and be comfortable.

    Would you use it?

     Yes, I would use it. I actually do use this site for my own needs for books and shows that I
    follow such as Outlander and Game of Thrones. For the Xbox 360 game I play, Assassin's
    Creed IV: Black Flag.

     It was founded October 18, 2004 by Jimmy Wales and Angela Beesley Starling.
     It was originally called "Wikicities“ until 2006 when the name was changed to Wikia.
