1 PPT - Pavement of Bricks and Tiles

The document outlines a project to replace cement with waste plastic in manufacturing brick blocks and tiles. It includes the aim to manufacture plastic tiles and compare them to ceramic tiles, using plastic waste in different proportions with sand and stone dust in brick blocks and tiles. It also provides details on the materials used, such as plastic waste, quarry dust, fine aggregate and coarse aggregate. The work plan involves team formation, literature review, data collection, result analysis and final presentation across months from May to October.

Aim:
 The aim of the project is to replace cement with waste
plastic in manufacturing of brick blocks and tiles.

Objectives:
 Manufacturing of plastic tiles and comparing with
ceramic tiles.

 Using plastic waste in different proportions with sand

and stone dust in manufacturing of brick blocks and tiles.

3
• Plastic waste is increasing due to raise in population and drastic
growth in urbanization.

• Annually approximately 500 billion plastic bags are used world

wide.
• Over 1 million sea birds and 1,00,000 marine mammals are killed
annually from plastic in our oceans.
• To overcome these defects we can use the plastic in construction
sector as a raw materials in different ways like preparation of
bricks and tiles.

.
MATERIALS USED :
Following are the materials use in our Plastic block production. They are
 Plastic waste
A plastic bag, poly bag, or pouch is a type of container made of thin , flexible,
plastic film, nonwoven fabric, or plastic textile.
 Quarry dust
A quarry is a place from which dimension stone, rock, construction
aggregate, riprap, sand, gravel, or slate has been excavated from the ground.
 Fine aggregate
Fine aggregate are basically sand own from the land or the marine
environment. Fine aggregate generally consists of natural sand or crushed Stone
with most particles passing through a 9.5mm sieve
 Coarse Aggregate
Locally available coarse aggregates were used in this work. Aggregates
passing through 12mm sieve and retained on 10mm sieve were sieved and tested
as per Indian standard specification IS:383-1970
