• June 10, 1872- Entrance Examinations.
• Jose was enrolled under the surnames of Rizal
and Mercado.
• The Ateneo had no reason to regret the
admission of the young rizal.
• He was awarded only an "accesit" .
• Jose visited his mother in prison.
• A spinster owed his family a money.
• The following years he moved to
another boarding house. (25 mins. Walk away from school).
• He moved to another boarding house,
run by a widow, Doña Pepay.
• He received only one first prize, a
medal in latin. • The influence of the Jesuits on Rizal cannot be underestimated.

letter to Rizal .

• Blumentritt recalled in his short biography of
