Doctors are commonly encountered with poisoning cases at
emergency section.
Apart from the treatment of such cases doctor has some legal
responsibility towards such cases as defined by the law.
Failure to perform these duties can land doctor into trouble &
he may face legal notice or punishment from court.
Considering the above things department of Forensic
Medicine planned educational activity to make clinician
working at AIIMS, Nagpur aware of their duties in case of
poisoning.
By the end of this activity doctor should able to do
1. Medicolegal documentation of suspected poisoning case as
per Institute policy
2. Police information as per CrPC
3. Arrangement for dying declaration as per Indian Evidence
act
4. Preserve various samples of Medicolegal importance as per
guidelines set by RFSL.
All the clinicians working in the AIIMS, Nagpur will be included
in the educational activity.
Number will be up to 40
Duration of teaching activity : 1Hr
Teaching Method: Role play and lecture
Predesigned Questionnaire will be given to all participant
before and after the educational activity.
With these questionnaire level of awareness of doctor
regarding the legal duties in case of poisoning prior and after
the educational activity can be assessed.
Evaluation of the activity can be done on the basis of answer
to questionnaire before and after the session.
