The key takeaways are the steps involved in converting Airtel's GSM network to a full IP network using Huawei technologies including installing IP clock servers, upgrading network elements, and migrating the network over 21 rings.

The steps involved in the IP conversion project include installing IP clock servers and integrating them with routers, installing GOUc boards and fiber laying, upgrading the CX routers, laying fiber between sites, and migrating the network ring by ring over 11 weeks.

The different network topologies discussed are the co-transmission network topology and separate transmission network topology, both with IP.

 The IP transport network should meet the quality of service (QoS) requirements ;
 A single port supports a maximum of 512 Nodes. One Clock server supports 2048 Nodes.
QOS Requirement
Delay ≤ 60 ms
Jitter < 20 ms (one-way)
Packet loss < 1%

Full IP Project Plan
As per the plan, 3 BSCs should convert to full IP. SOW are below,

• IPCLK Server installation in Kawadatha, commissioning and integration with CX routers.

• GOUc boards installation, fiber laying and integration with CX.
• CX-X3 V6R8 upgrade and LPU50 installation.
• RTN to CX and BSC to CX fiber laying- Requirements: AMP-48 PCS, Kandy-44 PCS & POL-44 PCS
• Full IP Migration--- There are 21 Rings. Per night, Only one ring cutover will be carried out with KPI confirmation.

P.S: Initially RTN ring will be considered.
