A Humble Prayer
In an economically deprived place in Bulacan, there
lived Carlo, a ten-year old boy. His family was poor.
They have a tiny house where his six siblings slept
almost on top of another.
One day, Carlo heard his mother said that she was
pregnant again. That made him worried, as it seemed
to worry his parents too. Where would the baby
sleep? There wasn't a single place in the house.
The next day, Carlo was on his way to school when
he saw a man selling balloons . An idea came to his
mind, he ran to the man and bought balloon. Then, he
went to the field instead of attending classes.
On the field, he sat under the shade of Acacia tree, he got
paper and pen on his bag and started to write a letter.

Dear God,
Thank you for this day and sorry for I skip classes because I am
worried about my family. In coming few weeks, my mother will give
birth to another baby. Our house is too small for us and we don’t
have anything for the baby, no blankets, no mattress, no clothes.
Lord, please help us to have these things. These things could be pre-
owned.

Yours truly,
Carlo Carlos
Mahabang Lupa, San Agustin, Bulacan
Then Carlo folded the letter and tied it to the
balloon string and let the ballon go up the sky.
Now Carlo is potentially waiting for an answer
to his letter. Days, weeks, passed nothing
happened until three weeks later. A man
working in LBC carried a big box addressed to
Carlo. His parent argued with the carrier and
advised him to return it because it must be a big
mistake for they don’t know someone from
Valenzuela City.
It couldn’t be returned, there is no return
address”, said the carrier.
On that moment, Carlo claimed it and wanted
to know if the box is for them or not. So he
opened the box and found out that it was full of
baby’s clothes used ones but nice and clean. It
was some kind of miracle.
Here is what God had let happen, there is an
elderly man taking a morning walk when he sees
the deflated balloon with a note tied on the
string. He picked up the note and read it. At first,
he would like to throw it but later he thinks that
he might be chosen by God to be His instrument
to fulfill Carlo’s prayer.
