JULIAN FELIPE JULIAN FELIPE • Born in Cavite City, Cavite • Youngest among the twelve children of Justo Felipe and Victoria Reyes. • He studied at a public school in Cavite and Binondo, Manila for his primary education. • At an early age, he showed his talent in music. • He became an organist at St. Peter’s Church. JULIAN FELIPE •He joined Philippine Revolution in 1896. •His participation resulted in imprisonment at Fort San Felipe in Cavite together with the “13 Martyrs of Cavite” •When freed, he again joined Emilio Aguinaldo's troop. He composed nationalistic songs that inspired his compatriots to continue fighting against the Spaniards. JULIAN FELIPE •After the Philippine-American War, Felipe was elected Cavite councilor, appointed director of the Banda Nacional of First Philippine Republic in 1899, and served as bandmaster of the United States Navy in May, 1904.
