What is Women in Management, IIM Kozhikode

It is an open platform to enable women alumni and


student professionals from IIM Kozhikode and beyond to
realize their full potential.
Key objectives:
1. Grow women leaders by building their networks ,
scaling mentorship and building their skills
2. Improve the ecosystem and ally network by building
awareness of unique challenges that women face

What IIM Women Grads want – with TSIM
• 49% of the respondents said they do not have equal opportunities for career growth as the
men in their organizations.
• More than 65% of the respondents said that female representation in their organizations’ top
leadership tier is insignificant and that they need more women role models to look up to.
• Over 60% said that their organizations provide a flexible work environment and invest in up
skilling, however only 45% said they have initiatives for mentoring and sponsorship.
• When questioned about the challenges they faced at work, respondents stated the lack of
mentorship, lack of strong professional networks, gender discrimination and unconscious bias
as the key challenges.
• Interestingly, while women agree that strong professional networks are essential for success,
71% of them said they take a passive approach towards building a network.
• The top few diversity initiatives that respondents placed immense value on, are flexibility in the
workplace, organizational budgets for upskilling, second career options for women and
extended maternity and paternity leave.
• When presented with a list of the top 50 firms that visit IIMs for campus recruitment,
respondents chose Google, Amazon and McKinsey & Co as their dream companies.

What should WIM prioritize?

• Networking sessions for students


• Alumni-student mentorship program
• Skill building sessions (both soft and technical) – networking, negotiation, right
communication etc
• Conference with external speakers
• Interactive sessions with other business schools’ women in business clubs
• Mentoring business school aspirants and / or developing content to encourage
more women applicants
• Case challenges – students paired with alums
• Company visits to meet with CXOs
