ECONOMIC SOCIETY
• As a human being, we have to meet our needs such as spiritual and
material needs for us to live.

• As a people in a society, we have to contribute in the so called


Economic Process which involves production, distribution and
consumption of goods and services.

• Economy refers to the provisions set by a society to sustain the


economic process.
ECONOMIC SOCIETY

• Economics is a discipline that studies the decisions and efforts


made to satisfy our material needs.

• Economic Development refers to the collaborative effort of people


and society for better standards of living and economic status in the
country.
ECONOMIC SOCIETY
• Economic Dimension refers to the distribution of wealth to the
members of the society. This also refers to the status of one person
in the society as rich or poor, satisfied or deprived in terms of
meeting the basic needs.

• In Economic Society we look for fair and equal distribution of basic


needs to all the member of the society.
ECONOMIC JUSTICE

• This refers to the duty of the state to provide equal opportunity to its
people. Opportunity to have a quality education, decent work,
secured community, fare share of the country’s material progress and
to enjoy the life with a sustainable development.

• There is an economic injustice in the society if poverty and unequal


distribution of wealth arises. If there is a big gap between the
income of rich and poor.
ROLES OF DIFFERENT SECTOR
IN THE SOCIETY
• The Government. Our government must provide support to economic
institution or business establishments by providing information from which
managers and leaders may use in production levels, sales, and costs. It may also
provide loans for their capital and make sure the economy is running smoothly
to:
– Protect worker’s rights, health and safety;
– Ensures that employers do not discriminate workers or job
applicants;
– Prevent pollution of the environment; and
– Protect consumers from dishonest practices and harmful products.

IN THE SOCIETY
• Economic Institutions. This determines the earnings of a person for
a living which involves the terms of contracts with the institution
and the exchange of goods and services. This also help the employer
and its employees to do what is beneficial to the both of them.
Providing policies in terms of the number of hours to work, benefits
for employees such as housing benefits, scholarship for the
employee’s children, short-term loans and a likes to help the
employees lessen the burden of financial circumstances.

• WORKERS. The most important factor in the cycle of production. The workforce is needed for the
manufacturing and distribution of goods and services.

IN THE SOCIETY
• Consumers. People in a society are advise to buy their own locally
product made. So that the profit will circulate with in the
community or country only. The slogan “Buy Filipino” is published
and aims to support local brands rather than imported brands.
Another thing to consider is the effect of consumerism where in
young consumers in the society may fall into becoming
materialistic. Character is base on the behavior of a person, not in
the material possessions.
