• Body movement
– indicate a change of focus
– keep audience's attention
– move forward to emphasize
– move to side to indicate a transition gesture
– up and down head motions to indicate importance or
acknowledgement
• Posture
– stand straight but relaxed
– Don't slouch or lean sideways
– Lean forward to emphasize
– Face your audience
– Don't lean on the lectern or hide behind it
Body language
• Hands
– To emphasize sincerity or reflection
– Open arms to include or welcome ideas
– Don't point at your audience
– Don't do nervous repetitive movement (touching face or
hair)
– Don't put your on hips or in the pocket
– Don't hold or click a pen too much
