PLAGIARISM
- Using other people’s words and
ideas without clearly acknowledging
the source of the information
COMMON KNOWLEDGE
- are facts that can be found in
numerous places and are likely to be
widely known

Example:
Rodrigo Duterte is the current
President of the Republic of the
Philippines.
INTERPRETATION
- are ideas or opinions that can
only be a fact when a source or a
reference is available

Example: Michael Jordan is the


greatest basketball player ever to
have played the game.
QUOTATION
- using someone’s words directly

Example: According to John


Smith in The New York Times,
“37% of all children under the age
of 10 live below the poverty line”.
PARAPHRASE
- Using someone’s ideas, but
rephrasing them in your own words

The Communication of Information
• If information gives meaning to a subject
then it is operationally defined as transfer
of meaning.
• Meltzer said that communication of
information requires an understanding of
the data. Transferring information from
one party to another cannot be considered
communication of info. if data is not
understood.

of Information
Ethics

• Branch of philosophy that involves


systematizing, defending and recommending
concepts of right and wrong conduct.

• It gives a predetermined set of guidelines based


on a code of morality that people in the society
will follow.

• Respect everyone’s privacy
• Separate facts from opinion
