which analyze a
subject or
problem.
Features of a report
 Recording of a sequence of events.
 Interpreting significance of these events of
facts.
 Discussion of outcomes of a decision or course
of action.
 Making conclusion on an event that has
occurred.
 Recommendation of future.

 Clarity.

 Informal report.
INFORMAL REPORTS

 Informal reports are typically internal reports, and can go to


other members of the department and department heads.
 The informal report functions to inform, analyze and
recommend.
 These reports are not very complex and short reports written
for shorter documents.
 They are less detailed.
 Proper structure is not essential.
 Evidence is not needed.
 EXAMPLE
Monthly financial report and monthly activity report.

FORMAL REPORT

 Formal reports are the reports written for upper


management of for another organization.
 It is collection and interpretation of data and information.
 These are complex and lengthy reports written on major
projects.
 They provide lengthy and detailed overview.
 Formal reports are properly structured.
 Evidence is included to support the information provided.

 Introduction is the summary of major points
the writer is going to discuss.
 Writer will give a brief description and shows
the reader why the report is being made.
DESCRIPTION / BODY
 Topic or event is described in details.
 Paragraph use factual information to give
reader a better understanding of the topic or
event.
 These paragraph often use subheadings to
help organize the information.
 A discussion section can also be included at
the end of body.
CONCLUSION
 Rephrase the key points of each body
paragraph.
 Repeat the main idea.
 Review of what was described in report.
