TSUNAMI-
is a series of waves caused by the
displacement of a large volume of
water. Generally, in an ocean or a large
lake. Earthquakes and volcanic eruptions
and other underwater explosions above or
below water all have the potential to
generate a tsunami.

The Philippines is no stranger to Earthquakes. Tsunami in the Philippine
are extremely RARE
Prior to March, 2011 the last recorded tsunami in the
Philippines that actually caused loss of lives, occurred in the
Verde Island passage between Batangas and Mindoro Island ,
affecting Puerto Gallera in the early morning of the 15 of
November 1994. Originating from 7.1 magnitude earthquake,
according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology Seismology

Most tsunamis are caused by large earthquake on the sea floor when slabs
of rock moves past each other suddenly, causing the overlying water to
move. The results waves move away from the source of the earthquake.
