“And he said unto me, Unto two
thousand and three hundred days; then
shall the sanctuary be cleansed” Daniel 8:14 …that there should be time no longer. Rev 10:4 8. And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth. 9. And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey. 10. And I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
Let us look at the meaning of each of these
Jeremiah 15:16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts
Ezekiel 3:3,4 And he said unto me, Son of
man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness. And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them. According to the texts above; To eat the book (Roll) is to study the contents of a given word. Honey for sweetness is enjoying the message studied and desiring to take more and more. Belly being bitter is the disappointment when the intended taste is not what the stomach has received In otherwords; There is a man who desired to study the prophecy of Daniel which was sealed and he was allowed to study it. It was so beautiful to the ears which taste the words but was disappointed when they never happened as expected. In the first part, John was representing Daniel. Who was the second man John was representing? William Miller (1782 – 1849) After years of Bible study he began to preach in 1831 that the present world would end “about the year 1843.” He based this belief primarily on a passage in the Book of Daniel (8:13–14). He published a pamphlet in 1833 and a book of lectures in 1836, the first of many publications. Principal organs of the Millerite movement were the Signs of the Times (Boston) and William Miller | American religious the Midnight Cry (New leader | Britannica York). Miller’s 1843 chart Later studied and revised to 1844 Here in America, he reached above between 500,000 people who believed the message. But the prophecy shows the belly must get bitter. What happened? In 1844, Jesus of course never came as miller thought. Revelation 10:11. And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.
The problem was not the timing but the prophesying. The understanding of the prophecy was misaligned.
He was told to prophecy again. He was not to give up, but
find out the mistake that led to the bitterness.
According to this prophecy, the disappointment was expected
or prophesied.
He was to prophecy to many people, and nations and togues
and kings. This makes this a universal prophet. He is also the last one since he goes to all the world. Revelation 10:11 … Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings. Was there such a disappointment before? If yes, how did they handle it?… As the disciples were disappointed by Jesus’ death, so was miller. The road to Emmaus enlightens us how to deal with this. The problem was not the death, but what they had perceived of him, when it did not happen, they lost hope. Our expectations and interpretations of what Jesus says may be the problem not what he says. Luke 24:25-28 … On the road to Emmaus, the disciples were confused and full of doubts. They had been disappointed by the death of their would-be king. How did Jesus help them to overcome the disappointment? Vs. 27, says: And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
He expounded from type to antitype. This
is what prophecy is all about. Gods people need to trace current events in connection with the history.
What does spirit of prophecy tell us?
There is a study of history that is not to be condemned. Sacred history was one of the studies in the schools of the prophets. In the record of His dealings with the nations were traced the footsteps of Jehovah. So today we are to consider the dealings of God with the nations of the earth. We are to see in history the fulfillment of prophecy, to study the workings of Providence in the great reformatory movements, and to understand the progress of events in the marshalling of the nations for the final conflict of the great controversy. {Testimonies for the church Vol. 8 307.2} Jesus used the very method, the book above is talking about. He used history and explained how the events that had happened, had a connection with what was written. Sadly many, even in the ranks of the remnant condemn this and call those doing it conspiracists. Seek the First Love Into the hearts of many who have been long in the truth there has entered a hard, judicial spirit. They are sharp, critical, faultfinding. They have climbed upon the judgment seat to pronounce sentence upon those who do not conform to their ideas. God calls upon them to come down and bow before Him in repentance, confessing their sins. He says to them: "I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent." Revelation 2:4, 5. They are striving for the first place, and by their words and acts they make many hearts sore. {8T 298.3}. Going back to revelation 10, After the disappointment, many came up with accusing sentiments of discouragement. Many left the faith. It was a sifting time.
But the text says
Thou must prophesy again.
Which movement rose out of this
disappointment and prophesied again to the whole world? Seventh-day Adventism | Catholic Answers Seventh-day Adventism | Catholic Answers From Catholic History and encyclopedia Britannica, the only movement that ever came from the disappointment (Belly being bitter), is Seventh day Adventist.
This is the Last Elias. The one like John the
Baptist, to rebuke kings, teach the way of Salvation, have a simple dress, have unique diet, baptize by immersion and most important of all, Teach that the judgement (day of Atonement) of God is near, by teaching the sanctuary message. When the Woman of Samaria said: Thou art a prophet, it was symbolic to the Christian world today (Woman of Samaria) to say to the Seventh day Adventists, thou art a prophet.
This church should tell people their sins and
condemn the use of their fallen state to make decisions. This church ought to show men to rely on obedience to Jesus by keeping God’s law.
If they faithfully do this, the world will say, I
perceive thou art a prophet Seventh-day Adventists have been chosen by God as a peculiar people, separate from the world. By the great cleaver of truth He has cut them out from the quarry of the world, and brought them into connection with Himself. He has made them His representatives, and has called them to be ambassadors for Him in the last work of salvation. The greatest wealth of truth ever intrusted to mortals, the most solemn and fearful warnings ever sent by God to man, have been committed to them to be given to the world; and in the accomplishment of this work our publishing houses are among the most effective agencies.--Testimonies, vol. 7, p. 138. {ChS 147.5}
What a task!!!! Thus was the burden of Elias. Feel it
Is it wrong to tell someone his sin? Isaiah 58:1; Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins. Ezekiel 3:18-19; 18. When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. 19. Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. Warn the wicked men. This is what the jew ought to do to the woman in samaria. What a task!!!! Do it and save your soul. As we near the close of time, there will be greater and still greater external parade of heathen power; heathen deities will manifest their signal power, and will exhibit themselves before the cities of the world; and this delineation has already begun to be fulfilled. By a variety of images the Lord Jesus represented to John the wicked character and seductive influence of those who have been distinguished for their persecution of God's people. All need wisdom carefully to search out the mystery of iniquity that figures so largely in the winding up of this earth's history. . . . In the very time in which we live, the Lord has called His people and has given them a message to bear. He has called them to expose the wickedness of the man of sin who has made the Sunday law a distinctive power, who has thought to change times and laws, and to oppress the people of God who stand firmly to honor Him by keeping the only true Sabbath, the Sabbath of creation, as holy unto the Lord. {TM 117.5} Amen See you next time for episode 19
