PRAYER
Dear Lord, We thank you a hundredfold for
the love and care that you have given to us.
May we return to you your good works by
multiplying it with love and respect, adding
more faith, subtracting worldly behavior and
evil works, and dividing your given talents to
others, so we can sum them all and be
united as one in your family. In this we pray.
AMEN

EXTERIOR ANGLE INEQUALITY THEOREM

This theorem states that the

measure of an exterior angle
of a triangle is greater than the
measure of the other remote
interior angles of the triangle
ANGLES
• When the sides of a polygon are
extended, other angles are formed.

• The original angles are the interior

angles.

• The angles that form linear pairs with the

interior angles are the exterior angles.
Exterior Angle Theorem
An exterior angle of a triangle…
… is equal in measure to the sum of the
measures of its two remote interior angles.

m∠1 + m∠2 = m∠4

Exterior Angle Theorem

m∠1 = m∠A +
m∠B
Examples:

m∠FHJ= m∠F + m∠G

111º = 60º + m∠G
111º - 60º = m∠G
51 º = m∠G
Examples: Find x & y
y = 30 + 82
82°
y = 112˚
30° x y

x = 68° 180 = 30 + 82 + x
180 = 112 + x
y = 112° 68˚ = x
Examples:
Find mJKM
2x – 5 = x + 70
2x - x = 70 + 5
x = 75

m< JKM = 2(75) - 5

m< JKM = 150 - 5
m< JKM = 145˚
It’s your
turn !
1. 80° Find x & y

40° x y

Solve for x in the diagram.

2.
x
1. 80° 40+ 80 = 120
40° x y
180-120 = 60

Y = 120
x = 60
2. 5x – 10 = 3x + 40
5x - 3x = 40 + 10
2x = 50
2 = 2
40 + 3(25) = 115
x = 25
40 + 75 = 115
