THREE-DIMENSIONAL

SHAPES

3D - SHAPES
What are three-dimensional figures?

• An object that has height, width and depth,

like any object in the real world.
• these figures are solid or hollow.
• They are also called Solid Geometric
Figures.
TYPES OF 3-D SHAPES
• CUBE
• CUBOID
• SPHERE
• CONE
• CYLINDER
• PRISM
• PYRAMID
CUBE
Key Features
- six faces which are all squares

Faces, Vertices, and Edges

Faces 6
Vertices 8
edges 12
CUBOID
Key Features
-Six faces which are all rectangles

Edges 12
SPHERE
Key Features
- Every point on the surface of
the sphere is the same
distance from the center.

Faces, Vertices and Corners

- it has only one curved surface

- A sphere has no face, edge
vertex and corner.
CONE
Key Feature

Cone is made up of:

- a circular base
- a curved surface that comes to a
point at the top (vertex)

Faces, Vertices and Edges

A cone has no edge and no corner.

CYLINDER Key Feature

A three-dimensional shape
with one curved surface and 2
equal circles as it base.

Faces, Vertices and Edges

2 Faces, 1 Surface, no edges

and no corners.
PRISM Key Feature
A prism is a polyhedron, with two parallel faces called
bases. The other faces are always parallelograms. The
prism is named by the shape of its base.

PYRAMID A pyramid s a solid whose base is a plane rectilinear figure whose side
faces are triangles having a common vertex called the vertex of a
pyramid.
